"Big Yellow Machine"
The “Big Yellow Machine” is a large-scale structural testing facility operated by our Lab. The load frame measures 5 × 10 × 15 ft (W × L × H) and is equipped with two servo-electromechanical actuators with loading capacities of 20 kips (89 kN) and 30 kips (133 kN). Both actuators provide a 250 mm total stroke (±125 mm) and a maximum loading velocity of 30 mm/s, supporting force- and displacement-controlled testing. The system has capacity for static and dynamic loading, including sinusoidal and cyclic loading (10 Hz max).
Collaborations to use this facility are welcomed!
