Instrument: The differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) is a DSC-60A Plus. This device can measure phase changes starting at -140⁰C. This model also comes with a 24 pan autosampler. Shimadzu offers a number of sample pans for a range of applications, including aluminum, platinum, alumina, nickel, copper, and quartz. There are also sealed and pressure-proof pans available. DSC can be used to observe phase changes, glass transitions, and other thermal phenomena. Generally, DSC is performed on powders of polymers or crystals, but liquid samples can also be used for this analysis.
