This lockdown has demonstrated that reduction in stress and healthier lifestyle (home cooking, cleaner air) seem to have a greater effect on well-being than we imagined. How can we get our cities back? And as a consequence how can we reclaim and renew our lives? Let’s try to #ResetWithCycling - Dr. Arvind Bhateja, Neurologist & Cyclist, Bengaluru
Confined spaces like cars and airconditioned rooms provide conducive environment for transmission through aerosol. A bicycle is the best way to beat the spread of COVID-19 virus #ResetWithCycling - Dr. Arul Vijaykumar, Cardiologist & Bicycle Mayor, Tirunelveli
Everyone has realised in this crisis that health is biggest wealth and staying healthy and stress free are the biggest achievements one can accomplish. Cycling is best way to feel confident healthy fit and stress free #ResetWithCycling - Dr Yogesh Kothari, Cardiologist, Bengaluru
We are designed to move. Movements improve our immunity. A strong immunity not only helps us to stay healthy but also recover faster and better from illness. Attaching a purpose to movements helps us stay motivated and move more in the day. Take your cycle to go grocery shopping or any other essential need. #ResetWithCycling - Dr. Anjanaa B, Physiotherapist and Wellness specialist
Cycling is an affordable and autonomous choice. People can go farther than on foot and maintain a safe distance at similar costs. If we choose to cycle during the covid crisis perhaps it will become a more lasting choice as well. Thats a good long term goal to pursue #ResetWithCycling - Ashwin Mahesh, Thought leader & Urbanist, Bengaluru
For gradual easing into economic activity, cyclists could be allowed to travel sans passes. Will help marginal groups too given that public transport restoration will take time. #ResetWithCycling - Ravichandar V, Civic leader & Urbanist, Bengaluru
This pandemic is an opportunity for city managers to make cities a sandbox for resilient solutions for citizen circulation. Transit management plays a bigger role going forward and solutions like cycling can now be given a fair chance. The protocol for post lockdown should circle around providing space on city streets for walking and cycling in a big way as these modes limit radial distance while providing adequate social distancing. #ResetWithCycling - Sonal Kulkarni, Urban & Transport Planner, Bengaluru
The pandemic has shown the need for our cities to be more resilient. The lock down has reminded us that a pollution-free and congestion-free city is what we want. Here is an opportunity to pedal into a resilient, safe and pollution free city. Its time for Bangalore reset and redefine what a people friendly city can be. #ResetWithCycling - Sudeept Maiti, Urban Designer & Cyclist, Bengaluru
Cycling lends itself naturally as a socially distanced mode of transport. During lockdown and partial lockdown, it is ideally suited for short distance trips with minimum disruption or endangerment to anyone else on the street. The government should declare some streets in the shopping areas in every locality as cycling/pedestrians only and lanes must be set aside along with widening of pavements in other streets. This will help the economy recover in a Corona-proof, safe, healthy and environmentally friendly way. #ResetWithCycling - Tara Krishnaswamy, Citizens for Bengaluru & Shakthi
We need to prepare ourselves to live with the virus for the next year or longer. I don’t see any better mode of transport than a cycle; affordable, sustainable, offers physical distancing naturally. City corporation, traffic police, employers must recognise the powerful role cycle can play in post COVID world and create incentives and infrastructure to dramatically increase the share of cycling. The lockdown period recorded dramatic drop of pollution levels, we can retain that to some extent if we bring cycles back first! #ResetWithCycling - Srinivas Alavilli, Citizens for Bengaluru
A bicycle stands for self reliance and equity. It enables the people especially in times of lockdown and emergencies to have access to essentials and not be dependent on external help to perform basic functions. It is also the most environmentally safe option for city commute #ResetWithCycling - Vinay Sreenivasa, Environmentalist & Human rights Advocate, Bengaluru
We strongly support the campaign to allow cycles on the road now and support cycling infrastructure in the future. Besides being good for #NammaBengaluru, an active lifestyle supports mental and physical wellbeing! #ResetWithCycling - Lena Robra, Bangalore Sustainability Forum
During such hard times and fear of spread of corona virus, people are skeptical of using public transport, which makes cycling one of the healthiest and safest option out there. It promotes physical distancing, helps us reach places easily and complete errands along with the added benefit of freshness. #ResetWithCycling - Manju George, Equity for children & Sustainability advocate, Bengaluru
I visualise a future, where human mobility does not pollute, does not result in accidents & allows for equity. Can we redefine a new normal? What if we could use the bicycle as we ease the lockdown? Zero emission need not be boring, it just requires us to do things differently; like commute differently! #ResetWithCycling - Rajani, Extinction Rebellion, Bengaluru & Bangalore Environment Trust
