Program Info
Eligibility for CTP:
UPSD students are considered eligible for CTP based on the following criteria
Enrollment in University Place School District
Completion of four years of high school and participation in 12th grade graduation
Student is graduating IEP determined and the IEP team recommends student receives public school services from age 18-21 prior to their 12th grade graduation, and has set an extended graduation date
Considerations:
Student no longer accesses services in a comprehensive high school setting and is ready for the transition setting
Student is eligible for DDA (Developmental Disabilities Administration) services and long-term employment supports
Transition lab
Focused on applied academic and adult living skills
Completion of employment portfolio and High School and Beyond Plan
Math skills applied to financial planning, budgeting, time management, and adult living
Reading and writing skills applied to adult living activities including reading transit schedules, completing forms and applications, following a schedule, reading recipes, understanding contracts and agreements, writing emails, and other work and community-based communication
Social and vocational skills for networking, establishing safe and healthy relationships, self-advocacy, and community readiness
Transition skills in other domains including health, recreation, leisure, community access, skill development, relationships, etc.
community job sites & internships
Community and district-based jobs.
Job sites during first year of CTP support exploration, skill development, interests, and generalization of skills across settings. Over time job sites are matched to develop skills related to the student's expressed career field.
Focus on increasing independence in the work setting, prioritizing tasks, following schedule, transportation, increasing stamina, and developing positive, professional relationships with supervisors and colleagues.
community access for daily living
Excursions in the community help students complete daily living tasks and establish routines for adult living.
Apply and generalize academic skills to community settings.
Access public transporation and Shuttle to navigate to community experiences.
Practice safe and expected community behavior.
Discover new places and establish connections with community resources that will continue after graduation.
