Class Debate
Hello everyone! Thank you for being here!
I cordially welcome you to this class!
Before I introduce the objectives and materials of the class; I would like for you to get to know me first.
About Me
My name is Nico Rosario Romero, and I will be your teacher for this class. In the video below, I will be presenting myself so that you can get better acquainted with me.
Information about the class
Information about how this class will run and what you are expected to learn:
During this class you will learn how to read critically through fact and opinion, how to work with your peers to establish norms for discussions, and how to defend your viewpoints or opinions.
This class has three different topics you will be learning about. These topics are divided into three pages on this website. The names of these pages are:
Learning to Read Critically
Norms for Discussions
Defending Viewpoints
Each topic will have its own guide materials (which you will study) and assignments you will complete. At the beginning of each page, you will find key questions for the assigned topic and a forum below them. These forums will be for answering those key questions. You will submit those forums (at the beginning of each module) before doing anything else in the pages.
It will be your responsibility to keep up with the assignments so stay alert and check this website periodically. You will submit your assignments through my academic email (nico.rosario@upr.edu). If the email provided doesn't work, you can send it to me through my other email (nicorosa1022@gmail.com).
My availability is from Monday to Thursday (8:00am to 3:00 pm). Please contact me if you need something clarified or if you have doubts about anything.
Do not use any AI to do your homework (This class is supposed to help you read and think critically, so this would be counterproductive).
Do not copy or steal your peer's work.
Have fun during this class. There will be many instances where you will be able to express your opinions and ideas through debates, which can be fun and motivating.
If you have any doubts or questions you would like to ask me, you can contact me through my emails or personal number (which will be listed below.
