I believe in positive transformation through education. I have always believed that education holds the secret for the change that humanity so desperately craves. Knowledge is a powerful tool that can both harm and heal. The more you know, the better you understand, and the selfishness that has corrupted humanity flourished from knowing. However, the answers, the procedures, the righteous form of understanding life is hidden within education. A teacher is so much more than just somebody handing papers and grading tests. Teaching is one of the noblest, most truthful professions that a human can perform. Teachers become mentors, become allies, teacher are colleagues, role models for students to see what honest, agents of change look like. I chose teaching because I want to put my hands around the future generations. Teaching will take me places, will allow me to meet people, kids, and young adults that will certainly help me grow as an educator and as an individual. I chose teaching because I want to prove that school is not a cycle, a never-ending routine (even if it feels like that from time to time). I want to know my students and carefully plan my classes, my procedures and my rules to help them develop their own values, beliefs, and standards. I chose teaching because education is the perfect tool for social transformation and human growth. Teaching did not cross my mind so easily though, I was focused on other things related to the English language that were not leaning towards education at all. However, life gave me the chance to reflect on my possibilities, on the profession, and my skills. As a bilingual student, I can describe my love for the English language. The history behind it and how deeply it is rooted in us, even when we are native Spanish speakers. English is culture, is a lifestyle, and is knowledge. This language brings opportunities of being big, of being excellent. Knowing English unlocks a second world of possibilities. It offers the chance of interacting and building relationships around the words, academically it is a must, and personally; English lets you enjoy all forms of art. Knowing two languages or more is knowing and getting to dive into cultures, worlds, traditions, and so much more. Not only did I choose teaching, but I chose to teach English as a second language. Because what other amazing way of educating and inculcating values and moral than introducing my students to a whole new world
