This electronic portfolio is an important tool used during clinical practice at the English Department in the University of Puerto Rico. As a practicing teacher candidate, I understand that the purpose and objectives of this portfolio go beyond being just another project. The portfolio along with all that is contained inside represent my professional teaching practice; a moment that I have been working for since day one in the English Department. Today, this portfolio is electronic, which means it will only be accessed through a link on the internet. The media contained is confidential, the works inside of it are genuine and completely mine. All the data recollected to develop the different projects uploaded in the e-portfolio are real facts and information extracted from the students and school that adopted me as a practicing teacher. The purpose of this portfolio is to help the practicing teacher organize and present a neat work. This portfolio represents the whole practice experience from the teacher candidate’s own perspective and experiences. Through this portfolio the practicing teacher will have the opportunity to learn and grow in knowledge and skills of responsibility, organization, presentation, professionalism, and creativity. A professional educator uses all the tools necessary to find development opportunities, always striving to grow as a teacher, colleague, mentor, and agent of change and social transformation. The objectives of this portfolio strive towards complying with the clinical practice requirements. Supervisors must be able to access the professional e-portfolio smoothly and observe a teacher candidate capable of adhering to superior directions and propositions. Another objective of this portfolio is for the teacher candidate to be able to present each and every single task and assignment/project required to pass the clinical practice in an organized, professional, comfortable way. This portfolio intends to guide the teacher candidate through the practice experience, helping them to achieve their goals and become model teachers and educators.
