capstone Project

Industrial Engineering Capstone project at Pura Energía Aguadilla

January 2023 - Present

Extracurricular Project

UPRM Roboboat Team

January 2021 - December 2022

UPRM team that designs an autonomous, robotic boat that navigates and races through an aquatic obstacle course for the Roboboat Competition. This team is a multidisciplinary team established to promote equality and diminish, and eventually eradicate, gender stereotypes to provide a more integrated team of young industrialists willing to develop a positive change in society.

Within the team I was part of the Business Division and my roles were Web-Master and Fundraiser Specialist.

Professional Experience

Summer internship 2019

June 2019 - August 2019

Instarz LLC is a start-up company located at Mayaguez, Puerto Rico focused on the design and manufacture of self-sustainable space habitats and space technologies. This company is the first in Latin America that is focused in the development of space habitats. Instarz has a very selective recruiting process, I went through three different interviews and was selected within a large number of students to work as an Industrial Engineer Intern. I worked from June to August for 40+ hours a week. Within my tasks I reviewed production information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services. This included production schedules, process flows and engineering specs. I also designed control systems to minimize and resolve production issues and project costs, created systems and plan production to ensure all products meet quality control standards and developed standards for production and design by working with clients and management.

Research Experience

Undergraduate research experience & poster presentation

August 2016 - May 2017

In my first year of university I took the Engineering Graphics class with Professor Wilma Santiago, where I carried out the design of "The Victory Project" with a group of colleagues. The project consisted of the creation of an artifact that was transported by air and by land. Professor Santiago allowed us to present the project at the Open Capstone activity which took place in December 2016 at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. The project was presented with its prototype and a poster. The following semester, the project was worked as undergraduate research under the supervision of Professor Santiago. During the project I was in charge of designing control systems to minimize and solve problems in the process of creation and costs of the project, created a poster, managed the schedules and deadlines, and implemented the engineering design process. The research resulted in the creation of a functional prototype of the model.
