Profile

My name is Al and since 2007, I have worked as an assistant professor for the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies in the UP Open University. For nearly the same span of time, I have also acted as an IT manager carrying a handful of different designations, and am now currently the Director for UPOU's ICT Development Office. From 2007 to 2014, I chaired the Diploma in Computer Science program. I was reassigned to the Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies program immediately afterwards and that is where I am at now.

I consider myself as a generalist deeply interested in bridging ecology, information and communication technology, agriculture and community building. So far, I have earned degrees in in Agriculture, Computer Science and Environmental Science at UP Los Baños.

When work is out of the way, I moonlight as an amateur photographer, a musician, and yes, even a new media artist. I have been a computer gamer since I was six years old. While my time with high school and college athletics are long behind me, I remain fascinated with sports. On the other hand, when does work get out of the way for me? All of these things still factor in to what I do as an academic.
