Prof. Dr. Yang Faridah Abdul Aziz

Dr. Yang Faridah Abdul Aziz is an academic professor and a consultant radiologist. She received her undergraduate and postgraduate training at the University of Malaya. She underwent a clinical attachment in Cardiac Imaging in the United States of America in 2000/2001. She completed the Essential Skills in Medical Education course and was awarded the ESME certificate in Medical Education in 2019. She is an alumnus of the IDC programme organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) focusing on training academics on higher education and change management. Over the years, she has honed her skills in the academic, professional clinical service and managerial endeavours. In 2022, she completed a master degree in medical education, in her bid to acquire new knowledge and be a lifelong learner.

Yang Faridah had been entrusted with numerous roles and responsibilities especially in education including (and not limited to) duties as programme coordinator, head of department, a council member in a professional body (College of Radiology), SETARA member (under the Malaysian Qualifying Agency), member of the Malaysian Medical Council (since 2017) and deputy dean at the Faculty of Medicine University Malaya (2015 - 2021). She is now the chair of the Medical Education Committee for the Malaysian Medical Council (since 2020). She continues to dream passionately, embrace the art of seeking knowledge, remain curious, and create possibilities in her career and her life.

Prof. Dr. Mohamad Haniki Nik Mohamed

International Islamic Universiti Malaysia, Malaysia

Dr Mohamad Haniki bin Nik Mohamed is a Professor in the  Pharmacy Practice Department, Kuliyyah of Pharmacy, International Islamic University Malaysia. He has completed Doctor of Pharmacy in 1996 from University of Tennessee, Memphis, USA. He completed his basic degree Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) in 1993 from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Prior to joining IIUM he has worked as Senior lecturer at USM from 1997 to 2005. He has worked as  Head of Pharmacy Practice Department and also as Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs at the Kulliyyah of Pharmacy, IIUM. He was also head  of Internationalization & Global Network at KOP, IIUM during 2019-2020. He has specialized in public health (tobacco control, smoking cessation) in pharmacy practice. He has spoken at many national and international conferences. He has been appointed by the Hon. Minister of Health Malaysia as a committee member for the technical working group on shisha and e-cigarettes as well as expert panel on e-cigarettes in the MOH Malaysia.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Said Nurumal

International Islamic Universiti Malaysia, Malaysia

Mohd Said Nurumal is an Associate Professor at Kulliyyah of Nursing in the Department of Critical Care Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and formally held the post of Dean at Kulliyyah of Nursing and Deputy Chairman for the Malaysian Nursing Council of Public Higher Learning Institution. Presently, he is a member of the Southeast and East Asian Nursing Education and Research Network (SEANERN) and is funded by the China Medical Board of the USA. He completed his basic nursing education at the University of Malaya and obtained his Bachelor of Nursing Studies (Hons) in Dublin, Ireland. He then pursues his Master of Science in Medical Education at the School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He received conferment of the Doctoral of Philosophy degree in nursing from Chiang Mai University.

Prof. Dr. Shahid Hassan

International Medical University, Malaysia

Prof. Dr. Shahid Hassan is currently working in IMU Center of Education in International Medical University at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Prior to his journey to Malaysia Dr. Shahid Hassan worked as Advisor Sindh Social Security Institution (SESSI), Pakistan in 1998. He joined University Science Malaysia (USM) in 1998 as lecture in ENT and Head and Neck Department, which he later served as Head of Department from 2002-2004. He was appointed as Coordinator of Surgical-based Program in 2004 from where he developed his interest in medical education. He completed his MHPE from Maastricht University Netherlands in 2007 and joined Medical Education Department in 2008 to continue working in USM until 2012. In 2012, he was appointed as Head of the Medical Education Unit in University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Kuala Lumpur. 2014-2016 he worked as Head of the Unit of Medical Education in Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin. Prof. Shahid has been appointed as Chairperson of several committees related to curriculum development and assessment and CPC/CPD in four distinguishing universities in Malaysia.

Prof. Shahid has been a keen researcher both in clinical and social sciences and he has currently been awarded with Malaysian Prestigious Fundamental Research Grant (FRGS) of over hundred thousand RM as the Principal Investigator for his research proposal on Assessment of Professionalism. He has won 35 Awards on his research and presentation at national and international levels. Some of those prestigious awards include World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Gold Medal for an Innovative Quick Diagnostic Kit (EBV Amp Kit) 2004, ITEX (International Invention Technology Exposition) Award 2005, Salon International Invention Geneva Award 2005, Excellent Scientist Award 2005, and University Science Malaysia Hall of Fame Award 2006 besides, a number of best paper presentation awards during 2002 to 2014. He has supervised 15 Master Dissertations and 2 PhD Theses. Also has been appointed as External Examiner for 5 Master and 3 PhD Theses.

Dr. Shahid Hassan has published 153 research papers in national and international journals and two books, the latest being “Achieving Excellence in Clinical Education” available at Amazon. His most read publications from medical education are the articles on Mini-CEX, DOPS, Psychometric of Assessment, Evaluation of Postgraduate Assessment, Item Analysis and Vetting of Assessment Items. His new book on WPBA is in publication. Professor Shahid Hassan has been the Past Associate Editor of PJORL, and Member Editorial Board of several national and international journals. He has been the Vice President Pakistan Society of ORL and Head and Neck Surgery and Vice President of Malaysian Association of Education in Medicine and Health Sciences (MAEMHS). Currently he is Lead of Assessment Subgroup Malaysian Educators Network (MEdNet).

His hobbies include reading, writing, interior designing, cooking, and chess.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maryati Md Dasor

Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia

Assoc Prof. Dr. Maryati Md Dasor is Head of the Quality Unit and former Deputy Dean (Academic and International), Faculty of Dentistry, UiTM. Her interest includes programme development, curriculum assessment and programme accreditation.

She is a member for Dental Specialty Education committee for development of programme standard for Master and Doctor in Orthodontics programmes. Actively participates in Professional Qualifying Examination committee, MDC since 2015. She is also the Malaysia Qualification Agency panel since 2018 for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. She has been appointed as the academic advisor for postgraduate orthodontic programme development - MAHSA university, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and International Islamic University Malaysia.

Dr. Mohd Nasri Awang Besar

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia

Dr. Mohd Nasri is a senior lecturer in Medical Education Department, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He worked with the Ministry of Health from 2000 to 2008 prior to completing Master in Medical Education in 2011 and Ph.D. in 2017. His Ph.D. topic focused on feedback in Workplace-Based Assessment (WPBA). His interest is not limited to assessment but also curriculum development, monitoring and review. He has been appointed as an Undergraduate Education committee member at Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) since 2018 and is also a Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) panel of accreditation. He has conducted numerous workshops related to assessment and curriculum for educators at both local and international levels. He is leading the project of Smart Question Bank and Online performance assessment which cover both e-OSCE and e-Long case. Currently, he is a Visiting Lecturer at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and was also a former visiting lecturer at Asian Metropolitan University (AMU), and Honorary Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in the field of Medical Education.
