Background | 背景
Since its inception in 2010, the International Conference on Japanese Language Education in Malaysia (ICJLEM) has evolved into a prestigious platform that convenes Japanese language educators, researchers, and practitioners from across Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region. The conference endeavours to enhance the quality of Japanese language education by facilitating the exchange of knowledge, pedagogical practices, and cutting-edge research findings.
2010年の初開催以来、マレーシア日本語教育国際研究発表会（ICJLEM）は、マレーシアおよび東南アジア地域の日本語教育関係者、研究者、言語教育の専門家、実践者が一堂に会する権威あるプラットフォームへと発展してきました。本大会は、日本語教育に関する知見や教育実践、最新の研究成果を共有することで、日本語教育の質の向上と発展に寄与することを目的としています。

2010: The Inaugural Conference | 原点
Jointly organized by the Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL) and the University of Malaya (UM), this inaugural event established a pioneering forum for academic exchange. It enabled Japanese language educators in Malaysia to present their research and share professional insights.
2010年の初開催以来、マレーシア日本語教育国際研究発表会（ICJLEM）は、マレーシアおよび東南アジア地域の日本語教育関係者、研究者、言語教育の専門家、実践者が一堂に会する権威あるプラットフォームへと発展してきました。本大会は、日本語教育に関する知見や教育実践、最新の研究成果を共有することで、日本語教育の質の向上と発展に寄与することを目的としています。
2016: Expansion of Collaborative Networks | 連携とネットワークの拡大
The Malaysian Association of Japanese Language Teachers (MAJLIS) officially joined as a co-organizer. Since then, MAJLIS has actively championed collaborations with various Malaysian universities, playing a pivotal role in the conference's ongoing development and the expansion of its professional network.
マレーシア日本語教師会（MAJLIS）が共催団体として加わりました。これ以降、MAJLISは国内のさまざまな大学との連携を積極的に推進し、大会のさらなる発展とネットワークの拡充に中心的な役割を果たしています。
2024: The 21st Conference | 第21回大会
The 21st conference was co-hosted by MAJLIS in partnership with the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
第21回大会は、MAJLISとマレーシア日本国際工科院（MJIIT）、マレーシア工科大学（UTM）の共催により開催されました。
2025: The 22nd Conference | 第22回大会
The 22nd conference was principally hosted by Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), significantly contributing to the continued advancement of research in Japanese language pedagogy.
第22回大会は、マレーシア・イスラム科学大学（USIM）が中心となって開催され、日本語教育研究のさらなる発展に貢献しました。
2026: The 23rd Conference | 第23回大会（本大会）
The 23rd conference will be co-hosted by MAJLIS and, for the first time, the Department of Foreign Languages within the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The central theme for this conference is "Reimagining Japanese Language Education in a Digital and Global Era"
第23回大会は、マレーシア・プトラ大学（UPM）現代言語・コミュニケーション学部外国語学科が、MAJLISとの共催により、初めて開催校を務めます。大会テーマは、「デジタル・グローバル時代における日本語教育の新たな展望」です。
