Compassion in Action. Connection With Purpose.
Uplift Community Outreach is a Tallahassee-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to addressing hunger and social isolation with dignity, compassion, and care.
Our work focuses on two essential needs: helping individuals and families access food assistance and creating meaningful connections for older adults through Uplift Connect.
We believe support should do more than meet an immediate need. It should help people feel seen, respected, remembered, and connected to their community.
Our mission is to address hunger and social isolation by providing dignified food assistance and meaningful companion connections for older adults.
We envision a community where individuals have access to essential food support and no older adult feels forgotten, disconnected, or alone.
We treat every individual with respect, compassion, and understanding.
We believe meaningful relationships help people and communities thrive.
We respond to others with empathy, kindness, and care.
We operate responsibly, honestly, and transparently.
We work alongside volunteers, donors, businesses, churches, and community partners to create meaningful change
Uplift Community Outreach was founded in Tallahassee in 2016. Uplift Community Outreach was founded in Tallahassee with a desire to help individuals and families facing difficult circumstances feel supported rather than forgotten.
Over the years, Uplift has provided food assistance, family support, educational opportunities, holiday assistance, and community outreach. As community needs and organizational capacity have changed, Uplift has entered a new season of focused service.
Today, the organization is concentrating its efforts on food assistance and Uplift Connect, a companion program being developed to help older adults experience consistent social connection through scheduled phone and virtual conversations.
This renewed focus allows Uplift to serve with greater consistency, strengthen its internal processes, and build programs that can grow responsibly over time.
“Uplift was created from a simple belief: even one thoughtful act can remind someone that they matter.”
LaShundra “Shundra” Williams is the Founder and Director of Uplift Community Outreach. She is a social work professional, trainer, educator, and community advocate with extensive experience supporting children, adults, families, and vulnerable populations.
Shundra founded Uplift from a deeply held belief that no one should feel forgotten. Her background in social work, program development, training, case management, and community engagement continues to guide the organization’s commitment to compassionate and responsible service.
Under her leadership, Uplift is strengthening its programs, building sustainable systems, and creating new opportunities for volunteers and community partners to make a meaningful difference.
Uplift Community Outreach is committed to responsible leadership, ethical service, and the careful use of donated resources.
As we revamp our programs, we are also strengthening our internal policies, volunteer requirements, documentation practices, financial oversight, safety procedures, and service standards. These safeguards help protect the people we serve, our volunteers, our partners, and the integrity of the organization.
We are committed to communicating honestly about our services, capacity, funding, and program development.
