1.1 Curriculum
The curriculum taught by elementary schools at FEU Roosevelt is K-12, namely the K-12 curriculum in the Philippines focuses on language, cognitive and social emotional development of early childhood (Snapshot et al.,2021). First, the Philippines was the first country to implement a national policy which requires mother tongue education for all students until the end of grade 3 before switching to Filipino and English in grade 4. Second, Cognitive skills students continue to develop despite switching from mother tongue teaching to learning in Filipino and English. Preschoolers just haven't been introduced to it yet addition in mathematics. The average child is able to develop abilities counting in the 2nd grade of elementary school. And preschoolers are not introduced to reading yet only the introduction of letters, so that the average child is able to read when he is in grade3-4 elementary school (Pardue, 2020). Third, children's social emotionality is formed in accordance with skills possessed by teachers and supported by school leadership and friends peer.
The teaching plan is very influential for my major because without a teaching plan I would be confused in teaching, with a teaching plan I can also be helped a lot when teaching and can find out what the advantages and disadvantages are of the teaching material that I am teaching to children. Through the teaching plan I can also be creative in teaching but still stick to the basic concepts in teaching.
