Session Highlights

The members of Session have taken the following actions in recent months:

  • Affirmed Pastor Kimberly’s nomination to serve as an executive officer of the Presbytery of Susquehanna Valley for the next three years: Vice Moderator in 2019, Moderator in 2020, Cabinet Chair in 2021;
  • Welcomed the news that UPC is a founding member of the Binghamton University Interfaith Council, which will provide on-campus resources and programming for students of all faiths, and will help them connect with religious communities on or off campus;Approved the transfer of Sarah Chadwick to The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington DC;
  • Approved the schedule for celebrating the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month in 2019 except in September, which will be on September 8 to avoid the Labor Day holiday; additional dates are Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Easter, Pentecost, and Christmas Eve;
  • Directed the staff to research and implement a process for online donations;
  • Agreed to participate in the 2019 PAST Sacred Sites Tour on Sunday, May 19;
  • Set the date of our Annual Congregational Meeting (Part 2) on Sunday, June 9, following worship, for the purpose of receiving program reports and electing the Session Class of 2021 and the 2019–20 Nominating Committee.
