Our Church Family

Join Us for Worship on Facebook Live

We live-stream our worship services on our public Facebook page. (You don’t need a Facebook account to see the videos.) The videos are available for several weeks after they are posted, so if you missed out on watching live, you can view it later on our website or our Facebook page.

Online Giving

We now have the ability to receive tax-deductible contributions online through our website (upcbgm.org/giving/donate). Contributions can be made by check or credit card, and can also be set up as a recurring gift. We encourage you to lift up in prayer how God will use you to bless UPC in fulfilling our mission to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.

Christmas Flowers

Join in celebrating the Savior’s birth by adorning the sanctuary with kalanchoe plants and poinsettias on Sunday, December 22 and Christmas Eve.

Flower orders are due to the church office by Sunday, December 8. See the order form for more information.

Coffee Fellowship Refreshments

Want to provide refreshments one Sunday? Sign up on the church bulletin board across the hall from the sanctuary.

Tablecloths, napkins, plates, and serving dishes are in the kitchenette, off the Library Lounge, for your use.

All offerings are welcome!

Deacons Ministry status report

In the past and upcoming months, a team has been working on forming United’s Deacons ministry, consisting of Pastor Becky, Aaron Whitney, Allison Nyamuame, and Ebony Jackson (our former Office Manager, who has returned to UPC to help the team while working on Ministry requirements for her degree program at Davis College). The team has come up with a starting process to develop our teams-based ministry which will help us reach out to those in need at church.

The Deacons ministry could include serving people who are home bound, in nursing homes, or in the hospital. It could also include those going through life events where support is appreciated, such as having a new baby, marriage planning, losing a loved one, or any other need that may arise.

At the moment we are working on developing a plan that we will propose to the Elders who will have an interest in helping with the Deacons ministry once it is up and running. (This doesn’t mean that people who are not Elders cannot participate.)

If you see any of the team listed above and would like to help or have any interest, don’t hesitate to ask. We would gladly discuss the ministry with you! We are hoping to have our ministry going sometime early next year.

In Memoriam

Edna Crane Hotchkiss, 87, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2019, just after celebrating her 69th wedding anniversary with her loving husband Clarence (Hocky) Hotchkiss. Edna was predeceased by her son Scott (Hotchkiss). She is survived by her three children: Kim Hotchkiss Hewitt, Mark Hotchkiss, Fred Hotchkiss, and her daughter-in-law Ellen Hotchkiss, as well as 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Edna was born on May 15, 1932, and graduated from Binghamton Central High School. She also attended Purdue University, as well as Ridley-Lowell Business School and the International Graphoanalysis Society. Edna treasured her years with her church, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. She volunteered at the Binghamton Junior League, the Opti-Mrs. Club, PTA, ARC, and the Samaritan Counseling Center, all of which enriched her life. She traveled the world and lived life to the fullest, loving her family first and foremost. The family will have a private service for her and then a celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donate to the charity of your choice in her memory.
