Personnel Team
Team Purpose: To select and support paid personnel and provide fair treatment for all staff.
Staff in 2022–23: Our staff is our face to the community and multiplies the effectiveness of the congregation’s ministry and mission, including hosting several partner organizations in our building. Office and building employees are indispensable to this community outreach.
From June 2022 to May 2023, staffing levels and those holding each position were unchanged. In mid-May, Riya Bolander joined our music department. Riya will share the soprano section leader role with Victoria Barics in the coming months, as Victoria is approaching completion of her Master’s degree at Binghamton University. We welcome Riya to our church family and look forward to getting to know them!
Last fall, the Personnel Team reevaluated the Welcome Desk Receptionist position (the position became vacant in spring 2022; it was decided that the position would not be filled during the summer months but revisited in the fall). It was decided that the position would not be filled based on current needs of the church and building partners. Staff members cover the front lobby desk during peak times and as needed.
Activities: During the last year, the Personnel Team:
met with staff members as needed for situations such as medical and maternity leaves of absence; consulted as necessary with the Finance Administrator;
worked on the personnel budget; recommended increases for staff members to assist with cost of living increases; made market adjustments if warranted;
reviewed the Employee Handbook of Personnel Policies to identify necessary updates and clarifications;
gained Cindy Burger and Marilynn Guinane as new Team members in January 2023; Kathy Preston left the committee in January 2023.
In the coming year, the Team plans to continue to review job descriptions to ensure that they reflect current duties and responsibilities of each position and finalize updates to the Employee Handbook.
