Oriol Pons (OPO)

Associate professor at ETSAB University, UPC.

Professional experience as an architect since 2004. The construction of the Sagrada Família Basilica in Barcelona (2013-17) is strongly related to his research projects in architectural sustainability and new technologies.

He has participated in competitive projects related to the UPC since 2009 and to the Center de Recerca iMat (2008-11).

12 competitive projects, 3 of which were the main investigator.

He has had a diffusion that can be summarized in: more than 30 indexed articles (index H: 17), 9 diffusion articles, 10 participations in books and 21 in congresses.

Co-author of 2 patents, 1 utility model and 2 investigations recognized Sexennis for his six activities from 2008 to 2019.

Carlos Muñoz (CM)

Serra Hunter Fellow at UPC. Associate professor.

More than 15 years of experience in the fields of "Continuum Machanics".

He develops his research and teaching activity at the Department of Architecture Technology of the ETSAB.

Doctoral thesis developed in the field of computational fluid dynamics, the simulation of turbulence in the focus and its effect on the structures.

Els darrers 10 years he has worked in the field of design of complex structures, co-author of more than 30 projects related to Wind Engineering and Fire Engineering.

Montserrat Bosch (MB)

Associate professor at EPSEB, UPC. Expert in construction, energy, materials, heritage and sustainability.

Member of the GICITED research group.

In any 2015 she will defend her second thesis focused on energy efficiency in the educational buildings of the Mediterranean city, with the concrete case of Barcelona city.

After leading more than 50 energy rehabilitation projects for public buildings, most of her current six research activities focus on the performance rehabilitation of buildings.

She has supervised the doctoral theses "WETWALL" (UPC, 2017) that developed a prototype of a vegetable plant with the incorporation of a purification system for gray water and "High density Netzero. Analysis of the life cycle and renewable energies applied to the collective habitat in Colombia” (UPC, 2021) related to the present proposal.

Adrián Muros (AM)

Associate professor at the Universitat de l'ETSAB, UPC, specializing in natural and artificial lighting in architecture, incloent-hi l'estalvi energètic, lighting for human health, the influence of lighting on l 'learning, here with the design and technological development of innovative lighting systems.

Director of the TEL lighting research center since 2000, coordinator of the master's degree in innovation in architectural technology ITA-MBARch since 2015, and director of the GAT research group.

He has directed, for example, the doctoral thesis Climatic potential for advanced natural ventilation comfort cooling approach in office-type of buildings in the Mediterranean coastal region of Catalonia (Pesic, 2020).


Eva Crespo (EC)

Serra Hunter Fellow from ETSAB-UPC, architect and researcher in innovation, technology and environment in the construction sector. She is responsible for the research group SMArT-Sustainability and Metabolism in Architecture and Technology.

Experience in innovative solutions and projects around buildings, to promote gairebé zero energy buildings (nZEB) and positive balance buildings in Mediterranean climates. Environmentally friendly solutions for the construction sector.

Expert in design and development of building and installation systems (climatization, lighting, fire and accessibility) related to sustainable and energy efficient solutions in conventional and industrial buildings.

Leadership, execution and management of competitive European and national projects (H2020, IEE, SUDOE, Euroregío Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Eco-Innovació, etc.). Participation in prestigious technical magazines and congresses with a wide production of scientific communications.

Torsten Masseck (TM)

Associate professor Serra Hunter Fellow of the Department of Architecture Technology.

Expert in Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) and Zero Energy Buildings (ZEBs), he has led the CISOL Solar Research Unit of the ETSAV Higher Technical School of Architecture since 2003.

Coordinator of international research projects on Energy Transition, Sustainable Buildings and Cities and Sustainable Lifestyles, he has been Faculty Advisor from UPC to UPC for the international Solar Decathlon Europe competition since 2010.

He has led important projects of the university-industry collaboration in the field of solar technologies and the integration of buildings,

UPC representative to the Administrative Council of the Spanish Green Building Council (GBCe) and member of the jury for the Norman Foster Plus Energy Building Award (Bern, Suïssa) since 2014.


Oriol Paris (OP)

Professor of the EPSEB and the ETSAB (UPC), where he teaches undergraduate, master's, doctoral and specialized courses on architectural envelopes and their environmental impact with 'Materials, components and sustainable systems' and 'The life cycle of materials of built'.

He conducts research on these topics here as well as on innovative technologies for architecture.

Collaborator in the development of our coatings with highly resistant and porous and permeable forms.

The results of his work have been published as articles reviewed by peers, presentations at congresses and utility models.

He is a representative of the Chair of Circular Economy (UPC) at EPSEB, a member of the sustainability commission of the ACE (Associació Consultors Estructuras) and a technical specialist and expert from AENOR for the evaluation of R&D projects +i.

He is co-author of 3 invention patents related to the application of these technologies. He co-directed a doctoral thesis and a master's thesis related to his research projects.

Inmaculada Fortea (IF)

Architect and Master in Structural Engineering licensed by the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Structural engineer from the BAC Engineering consultancy group where she has collaborated in the analysis and design of outstanding structures in international projects for the last 11 years.

Since 2011 she has led the implementation of the BIM methodology to the company, focused on the application of BIM to the field of structural engineering.


Professor of the Department of Architecture Technology (ETSAB-UPC) and of the Master “Building information modeling project, construction & facility management” of the ETSAM-UPM. He is a doctorand at the UPC.



Albert Sanchez (AS)

Professional experience as an Architect since 1999. Since 2021, Lecturer Professor at the Department of Architectural Representation (RA) of the UPC. He has co-directed 2 doctoral theses and is a member of the QURBIS research group, and has participated in 6 national and international competitive research projects. The research is focused on the evaluation of augmented reality and virtual reality technologies using immersive and collaborative systems, tot profoundly in their application in different fields of architecture and building, with energy efficiency, the constructive processes, the heritage and the spatial perception of people with disabilities using these technologies. As a summary of his scientific production, 13 articles in indexed scientific journals, 2 Book Chapters, and 25 Texts published in national and international congress proceedings stand out. Fet that li has supposed the obtaining of the sexenni (2011-2016)

Jelena Nikolic Zlatkovic (JN)

Lecturing undergraduate and master courses at ETSAB (UPC), as senior PhD architect and researcher in architectural technology innovations and sustainable buildings retrofitting. With more than 10 years as project leader, she is currently Senior Project Manager (Project Director) in DEERNS engineering consultancy. She is actively participating in building design, engineering, management, and development of new projects and integrated sustainable building renovations, both national and international. Her specialties i.e. in smart technologies, and integrated systems for high performance buildings and cities provide comprehensive, optimized, precise and innovative results, from early technical due diligence expertise and feasibility studies to final building delivery. External member in evaluation processes for COST proposals and reviewer for high rated scientific Journals. 

Lucrecia Calderon (LC)

Associate professor at ETSAB (UPC), where she gives undergraduate, masters, Ph.D and specialization courses on architectural structures and their environmental impact. She carries out research on these topics as well as on innovative learning methodologies. For instance, the project “Use of recycled plaster and rubber in the production of ecological cementitious materials. Mechanical and environmental study” from 2019 and the project “Evaluation under a multi-criteria approach for production of concrete using waste” in 2021. She disseminates her research activities in Journals: Q-1 Construction Reports in architecture; ACE; Resources, Conservation and Recycling Q-1, Management and Environment. She has also participated in national and international congresses and is co-directing a doctoral thesis related to her research projects.

Ma. Gabriela Ledesma (GL)

MSc. B.Arch. and researcher in architectural technology and sustainable buildings and environments. Her professional experience includes construction supervision on residential, hospitality and healthcare projects, project manager on energy efficiency in electrical engineering companies, and team leader on electric and electronic systems design for new and retrofitted buildings. She is currently junior building performance modeler in Deerns for high performance buildings and building certification schemes. As of 2018, she is a doctoral candidate at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya focusing on building performance simulation, energy efficiency and green envelope technologies.

Saeid Habibi (SH)

Ph.D. candidate specialized in intelligent low-cost façades. He potentially analysed and assessed various intelligent façade technologies from different sustainability aspects through the application of novel techniques and methods. He has participated actively in the FBBA project, being in charge of researching and developing innovative waste-based solar control devices with different levels of intelligence for public primary schools. He has also participated in workshops with pupils who prototyped the mentioned devices. Later on, by incorporating in a research team, he has analysed the mechanical properties of the developed prototypes. The results of his works had been published as peer-reviewed articles, congress presentations, and utility models. He also led one of the top ten UPC Recircula projects that competed on reusing solutions of COVID-19 waste items.

Àlex Coromina Baqué (ACB)

Research intern at the Department of Industrial Technologies of the ETSAB.

Currently taking the fourth year of Architecture at the same school.

Participation in various competitions such as: International Project Workshop, Pladur Competition edition 21/22, and others...

Drafter at Blossom architecture firm, ContruNext project department.

Scholarship where he has been compiling the evolution of Batlle i Roig's work in Poblenou. The peculiarity is in the five-storey wooden building. Guided by Oriol Pons during the operation.
