On July 6th, IT specialists from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) level up with UPM SILab's Advanced Course on Interoperability which will be held at PHIC’s Head Office.

The UP Manila Standards & Interoperability Lab (UPM SILab), with assistance from the Open Health Information Exchange (OpenHIE), is launching a hybrid four-part 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 for Universal Health Coverage. 

The first cohort for this training will be the EA-NHDR team and the regional IT officers from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC).

On March 24, 2023, hepatitis informatics in the Philippines progressed to the next level with the launch of the UP Manila Standards & Interoperability Lab (UPM SILab) at the Bay City Ballroom, Citadines Bay Manila City. The UPM SILab was introduced to healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers who gathered for the end-of-project event of "𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄 𝑽𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒔 𝑻𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝑬𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔."

The UPM SILab observed the pressing problem of having health data in isolation from each other and sought to standardize the way of communication between providers by enabling interoperability.

Our health data systems use paper and non-standard electronic systems, creating health data silos which hinder data collection and policy making. By creating standards to convert data into an interoperable form, UPM-SILab helps decision making and continuity of care.
