March 3, 2026 | 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲: 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵
In continuing to enhance its support to students, faculty, and staff, the UPCP Committee on Library Resources organized “𝗠𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲: 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵” last February 18. The three-hour webinar aimed to empower participants with the necessary skills to master the library’s digital resources from the first click to the final citation.
The program started with welcome remarks from the University Librarian, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗣. 𝗖𝗮𝗮𝘀𝗶, who stressed the need to inform the university community about the varied resources available in the library to aid them in their academic journey and research activities in the University.
This was followed by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝗹𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗘. 𝗗𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼, Head Librarian of the UPCP Library, who presented "𝙈𝙖𝙭𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙏𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨," wherein he showed how Tuklas could be used for searching physical resources, how Thesis Finder could be used for searching the library's thesis collection, and how integrated searching via Saliktroniko could be maximized for searching different types of resources via a single interface.
The presentation was followed by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝘆-𝗔𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗼 and 𝗠𝗿. 𝗣𝗶𝗼 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮, who presented "𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙂𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝘿𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙨." In the presentation, the speakers discussed the difference between Scopus and Web of Science, how the h-index and Impact Factor could be used for analyzing citations for the purpose of identifying high-authority journals, and how Boolean search could be maximized for filtering high-volume results into manageable results.
In the final presentation, "𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙇𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙧𝙤," Mr. Omana came back to talk again, this time focusing on the features of Mendeley, particularly on the organization of PDF files and the collaboration feature, with a mention of the benefits that can be derived from the UP Institutional Edition, which has 10GB space, compared with the free version.
𝗗𝗿. 𝗜𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗮 𝗚. 𝗣𝗲ñ𝗮 wrapped things up, reminding everyone how crucial organized research is and how many resources the library offers, especially for grad students, with the entire program facilitated by the Committee Chair, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗕𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗼.
