Your access to the UPCN Skills & Sim Laboratory
The UPCN Skills & Simulation laboratory is versatile and is used throughout the different courses depending on the outcomes expected of our students. It is used not only for hospital or institution-based settings, but also for public health setting - from neonatal to geriatric cases.
Depending on the targeted outcome of the session, the space may be setup differently. It is equipped with various fidelities of patient simulators & manikins, task trainers, and real-world healthcare equipment.
More than the space, the faculty & staff continues to improve their use of simulation-based education by continuing to learn from the best in the field and implement their learning throughout the UPCN curriculum.
The laboratory is used for a variety of courses including but not limited to: anatomy & physiology, health assessment, foundations of nursing, nutrition for nursing, nursing intervention courses, maternal and child nursing including labor & delivery, perioperative nursing, disaster nursing, mental health & psychiatric nursing, and even critical care nursing. As mentioned, scenarios can be made in any clinical setting -- whether it be in-hospital or in the public helath setting.
