STEP 1
REGISTRATION
The assigned personnel shall verify your identity, voluntariness, and consent.

STEP 2
VITALS
The assigned personnel will check your vitals—blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
STEP 3
SCREENING
A PRC staff will interview you and ask necessary details including medical history, conditions, and other health concerns.
STEP 4
BLOOD TYPING
A PRC staff will check your blood type.
STEP 5
BLOOD EXTRACTION
You will be assisted to the bed for the bleeding process. The process usually takes around 8-10 minutes.
STEP 6
REFRESHMENTS AND SOUVENIR
After the blood donation, you'll receive refreshments and souvenirs.
1. Must weigh at least 50 kilograms (110 pounds) for your safety.
2. Must be at least 18 years old. Donors below 18 years old must present parental consent before donating.
3. Must have at least 6 hours of sleep before donating.
4. Drink an extra 16 oz. (roughly 470 ml) of water or any non-alcoholic fluids before donating.
5. Eat a healthy meal before donation.
6. Must not have cough or colds.
7. Paracetamol or ibuprofen for headaches is generally considered okay and should not make the donor ineligible, but the donor should inform the attending physician if he/she has taken anything stronger.
8. Must NOT drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before donating.
9. At least one year after tattooing, body piercing, or any major surgery.
10. At least three (3) days after tooth extractions provided that he/she has fully recovered.
11. A smoker is allowed to donate as long as he/she does not smoke two hours before and after the donation.
12. For women, they must not have their period and should not be pregnant at the time of donation.
13. Must be feeling well.
14. Be honest about existing medical conditions, previous illnesses or medications taken.
15. Must not have traveled to a foreign country within the past year.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
FOR DONORS VACCINATED AGAINST COVID-19
At least seven (7) days after full vaccinations if you did not experience any side effects.
At least 14 days after full vaccinations if you did not experience any side effects.
FOR DONORS WHO TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19
At least 28 days after the end of the 14-day quarantine.
Q1. Ang 1 blood donor po ba ay 1 blood bag ang katumbas?
Oo, ang isang blood bag ay naglalaman din ng 450 mL volume.
Q2. Kapag po ba may donor ay whole blood component ang kinukuha?
Oo. Pagkatapos, ang mga na-donate na dugo ay dadaan sa proseso kung saan pinaghihiwalay ang mga blood components (plasma, PRBC, platelets, at iba pa).
Q3. Gaano po katagal bago muling makapag-donate?
After three (3) months nang makapag-donate ng dugo ay pwede na ulit ngunit iche-check pa rin ang eligibility ng isang blood donor.
Q4. Pwede po ba akong mag-donate kahit hindi ko alam yung blood type ko?
Pwedeng-pwede dahil maaari mo itong malaman sa blood typing part bago ka kuhanan ng dugo.
Q5. Kapag po ba may tattoo ay pwedeng mag-donate?
At least after one (1) year ng pagpapa-tattoo ay pwede nang mag-donate gayundin sa acupuncture o ibang procedures na may needles.
Q6. Nakapanghihina po ba ang pagdo-donate ng dugo?
Hindi. Safe po ang dami ng dugo na kinukuha sa isang tao at hindi ito nakasasanhi ng sakit. Nakapaga-adapt po ang ating katawan sa bagong fluid volume matapos makapag-donate ng dugo.
Q7. Mahahawa po ba ako ng sakit sa pagdo-donate ng dugo?
Hindi. Sinisiguro na bago, malinis, at sterile na disposable needles at syringe ang ginagamit sa bawat donors.
Q8. May babayaran o matatanggap po ba ang donors sa araw ng pagdo-donate ng dugo?
Libre po ang procedure ng pagdo-donate. Matapos mag-donate ay may refreshments namang io-offer sa donors at maaari ding makatanggap ang donors ng certificate/souvenir mula sa organizers.
Q9. Kahit anong klase po ba ng face mask ay pwedeng isuot sa araw ng pagdo-donate?
Oo. Siguraduhin lamang na natataklubang mabuti ang bibig at ilong ng donor, ayon sa updated na CDC guidelines.
Q10. Pwede po bang magsama ng tao sa donation site?
Pwedeng may kasama sa donation site, kamag-anak man o kaibigan ng donor.
Q11. Paano po kapag ako ay minor, pero gusto ko pong mag-donate?
Kailangan pong magpasa ng Parent's Consent Form na may pirma ng magulang/guardian upang makapag-donate ng dugo ang isang minor. Maaari pong ma-access ito sa registration link. Siguraduhing may soft o hard copy nito sa mismong araw ng blood donation.
Q12. Ano po ang mga usual na blood component sa certain diseases?
Ang mga common na blood component sa certain diseases ay: platelets (dengue), PRBC or whole blood (dialysis). May pagkakataon din na pwedeng interchangeable ang PRBC at whole blood. Ang safest pa rin ‘pag ganito ay i-confirm ng family ni patient sa kanilang doktor kung anong kailangan na blood component. Usually naman ay nakalagay iyon sa blood request form mula sa ospital.
Q13. Hindi po ako vaccinated. Mas preferred po bang vaccinated ang magdo-donate o hindi naman?
Ayon sa PRC Calamba, okay lang kahit hindi vaccinated o nag-undergo ng RT-PCR Test. As long as hindi exposed sa COVID-19 patients ay pwedeng mag-donate. Ngunit bilang sa UPLB campus gaganapin ang bloodletting activity, lubos na hinihikayat na vaccinated ang mga bisita sa vicinity.
Q14. Paano po kung nagpa-booster ako, kailan po kaya ulit pwedeng mag-donate?
Ayon sa PRC Calamba, kung mild side effects lang (e.g. headache) ay pwede nang after seven (7) days. Kung halimbawa naman ay fever o fatigue, after fourteen (14) days ay saka pwede na. Kung wala namang naramdamang side effects, pwede nang mag-donate.

Pwedeng i-search sa Google Map ang “Philippine Red Cross Calamba Chapter” pagkatapos ay lalabas ang address na 'yan. Katabi po siya ng JP Hospital sa Bucal, Calamba City, Laguna.
Q16. May DOH-Approved Antigen Testing Center/RT-PCR Swab Test po ba ang RCY of UPLB?
