Blood Program is one of the main programs of the Red Cross Youth of UPLB. The program allows the organization to conduct blood-related activities such as blood request assistance and blood donation drives.
BLOOD DONATION
Blood is a true humanitarian gift that can only be given by one human being to another.
Donating blood is generally safe, provided the donor is healthy and has no pre-existing medical condition that might compromise their ability to donate. Hence, complete honesty with your medical history is a must!
A trained healthcare professional performs the procedure on-site with a physician. All needles and blood bags are sterile and are used only once. All blood units are processed in the laboratory and tested for blood-transmissible diseases, HIV, Hepatitis B & C, Malaria, and Syphilis. It is stored until dispensed to patients requesting blood.
At any given time, somebody, somewhere needs a blood transfusion.
BLOOD REQUEST ASSISTANCE
Every drop of blood is like a breath of life. Donate blood and save lives.
Every second counts in times of medical emergencies, especially when it comes to finding the right blood type. RCY of UPLB's Blood Request Assistance Service assists patients who urgently need blood, connects them to the chapter's bloodbank, or help reach out potential donors.
