LOW SHUTTER SPEED
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 6, 2025, indoors
Settings: Shutter speed 1/5 sec, Aperture f/8, ISO 800, White Balance: Auto
Why: I used a slow shutter speed to create a motion blur effect, mimicking a glitch.
Design & Composition: I used movement and contrast resulting in emphasis of the very dull, sharp object against the blurred screen behind.
Effect: The motion blur captures a sense of movement and distortion, creating a digital, almost surreal vibe.
HIGH SHUTTER SPEED
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 6, 2025, indoors
Settings: Shutter speed 1/400 sec, Aperture f/3.7, ISO 800, White Balance: Auto
Why: I used a fast shutter speed to freeze movement and make the scene look like a paused video.
Design & Composition: Stillness and sharp contrast worked with focus on everything sharp and frozen.
Effect: The high shutter speed captured crisp motion, enhancing the illusion of time being stopped.
BTW, I only noticed now the red timeline of the YouTube video. I just want to ensure that this photo was captured while the video was playing.
WIDE APERTURE
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 5, 2025, indoors
Settings: Aperture f/1.7, Shutter speed 1/205 sec, ISO 1600, White Balance: Auto
Why: I used a wide aperture to create a shallow depth of field, keeping the subject sharp while blurring the background.
Design & Composition: I used focus, depth, and emphasis to isolate the wooden object.
Effect: The blurred background draws attention to the subject, making it the clear focal point of the photo.
NARROW APERTURE
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 5, 2025, indoors
Settings: Aperture f/6.9, Shutter speed 1/25 sec, ISO 4000, White Balance: Auto
Why: I used a higher aperture to achieve a deeper depth of field, aiming to focus on the plants in the background. The higher ISO helped compensate for the lower light indoors.
Design & Composition: Using depth and layering to create a sense of perspective, the wooden object is slightly blurred while the plants take focus.
Effect: The deeper depth of the field maintains clarity.
HIGH ISO
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 5, 2025, indoors
Settings: Aperture f/3.7, Shutter speed 1/80 sec, ISO 4000, White Balance: Auto
Why: I used a high ISO because the photo was taken in low light.
Design & Composition: I used contrast and focus to make the wooden object stand out against the dark background. The low light created a moody and intimate atmosphere.
Effect: The high ISO introduced some noise but allowed for a well-exposed image despite the dim environment.
LOW ISO
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 5, 2025, indoors
Settings: Aperture f/3, Shutter speed 1/50 sec, ISO 640, White Balance: Auto
Why: I used a low ISO to maintain image quality and reduce noise, as there was sufficient ambient light.
Design & Composition: I applied depth and contrast to make the wooden object stand out against the slightly blurred background.
Effect: The low ISO resulted in a cleaner, noise-free image, giving the photo a calm, soft feel.
PORTRAIT
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 5, 2025, indoors
Settings: Aperture f/1.7, Shutter speed 1/205 sec, ISO 400, White Balance: Auto
Why: I used a wide aperture f/1.7 for a shallow depth of field, highlighting the wooden figure against a soft background. A shutter speed of 1/205 sec froze motion, and ISO 400 balanced exposure with minimal noise.
Design & Composition: Emphasis, contrast, and depth were created with shallow focus, placing the subject off-center using the rule of thirds.
Effect: The blurred background isolates the subject, adding a moody tone, while the sharp focus and warm wood texture enhance the portrait style.
LANDSCAPE
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 5, 2025, indoors
Settings: Aperture f/1.7, Shutter speed 1/205 sec, ISO 400, White Balance: Auto
Why: Same above, I kept the aperture wide at f/1.7 for a shallow depth of field, emphasizing the subject while softly blurring the background. The shutter speed of 1/200 sec ensured sharpness, and ISO 400 provided enough light without noise.
Design & Composition: I used depth, emphasis, and the rule of thirds. Shifting to landscape orientation created space around the subject, giving a grounded feel.
Effect: The wider framing adds context with more negative space, making the subject feel intentional. The soft background enhances depth and focus, keeping attention on the wooden figure.
DUTCH ANGLE
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 5, 2025, indoors
Settings: Aperture f/1.4, Shutter speed 1/205 sec, ISO 400, White Balance: Auto
Why: I used a wide aperture (f/1.4) to blur the background and isolate the subject. The shutter speed of 1/200 sec ensured clarity, and ISO 400 balanced exposure in low light.
Design & Composition: The Dutch angle to add tension and shallow depth for emphasis, with leading lines subtly guiding the eye toward the subject.
Effect: The tilted composition creates unease and energy, while the strong blur and the off-kilter framing give the wooden figure a surreal, cinematic presence.
COOL WHITE BALANCE
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 5, 2025, indoors
Settings: Aperture f/1.4, Shutter speed 1/200 sec, ISO 400, White Balance: Manual (cool tone)
Why: I used a wide aperture (f/1.4) for shallow depth of field to isolate the subject. The shutter speed of 1/205 sec prevented motion blur, while ISO 400 balanced exposure without excessive noise. A cool white balance was set manually to create a clean tone against the warm wood.
Design & Composition: I used emphasis, contrast, and depth, placing the subject off-center with negative space, subtly following the rule of thirds. The smooth, uncluttered background helps focus attention.
Effect: The cool white balance highlights the wood's tone, while the shallow depth separates the subject from its environment.
WARM WHITE BALANCE
Camera: Fujifilm X-T30
Time & Place: May 5, 2025, indoors
Settings: Aperture f/1, Shutter speed 1/205 sec, ISO 400, White Balance: Manual (warm tone)
Why: I used similar settings as the above, except for the aperture and manual white balance which was set to a warm tone to highlight the natural wood.
Design & Composition: I applied contrast, color harmony, and depth, with the subject centered vertically but slightly offset. The warm tone complements the material.
Effect: The warm white balance enhances the wood’s color, creating a cozy feel.
