Technological advancements have already contributed to the efficiency and effectiveness of work employees and their services. In line with it, the UP Manila Supply and Property Management Office (SPMO) has created a website, the Government Assets Monitoring and Inventory Tracking system or GAMIT system, for a more streamlined and systematic method of requesting supplies and properties from their respective offices.
To orient employees on proper utilization of the GAMIT, the UP Manila SPMO, in collaboration with the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) as well as the Information Management Services (IMS), spearheaded the GAMIT System Hands-on Training last September 24 at the Class 1963 Lecture Room of the Calderon Hall, College of Medicine, and last September 25 at the Physiology Conference Room, Salcedo Hall, College of Medicine.
The training was divided into three batches. The morning and afternoon batches of the September 24 training was catered to the representatives of Unit Supply Officers or Property Custodians of the Colleges and Library as well as the Research Projects employees, while the morning batch on September 25 was catered to representatives from the CAD Offices and the SHS Campus.
The resource speakers from the Supply and Property Management Office vary for each batch. Mr. Tirso Jay S. Bañares, a Senior Office Assistant, Ms. Maria Fe R. Peñarroyo, an Admin Aide IV, and Ms. Veronica Ruth Q. Tagoc, a Senior Office Aide, directed the first batch with a bright and engaging manner, making the attendees inquire on liability, transparency, and accountability during the hands-on training.
Ms. Joan C. Quidep and Ms. Jennelyn C. Tiamzon led the second batch of trainees in the afternoon. For the second batch, most attendees explored how to navigate the website. The SPMO even assisted in creating an alternative website in order for the attendees to fully grasp the technicalities offered by the GAMIT system for their services.
Whereas, four speakers were invited for the third batch on September 25., Mr. Ron Christian M. Marasigan, a Senior Office Assistant, and Ms. Magnolia Trinidad S. Santiago, Administrative Officer V to cater the attendees that are research projects employees while Ms. Essa Rona P. Tuble, Admin Officer III and Mr. Michael Oliver Z. Garcia, a Junior Office Assistant for the CAD Offices and SHS employees that are attending the said training.
With the help of the IMS team, the third batch was conducted in hybrid mode via Zoom so that the employees from the School of Health Science (SHS) could join remotely. The SPMO is very committed in ensuring all queries surrounding the usage of the GAMIT system are answered in alignment with the Government Accounting Manual (GAM) which was what the attendees were most interested in understanding.
The event concluded with a closing message from Ms. Essa Rona P. Tuble, the Admin Officer III of the SPMO. She emphasized the importance of training initiatives such as this one in helping employees in being adept about supply and government procurement processes with the help of GAMIT. 52 employees came for the first batch, 49 employees for the second batch, 65 employees for the third batch, with a total of 166 attendees for all the three trainings of the GAMIT system.
The HRDO also took this opportunity to promote its upcoming training and caravans, as well as to support the courses uploaded in the Learning and Management System (LMS) of the HRDO which they can take on their own time, all arranged for its employees to acquire skills for their further career development.
