The University of the Philippines Manila HRDO remains dedicated in ensuring that new employees are well-prepared and adjusted as they begin their new journey with UP Manila. As part of the onboarding cycle of the university, the HRDO Learning & Development section engaged the help of other departments and held a second batch of New Employee Orientation Program (NEOP). Human Resource and Development Office’s L&D held a 6 hour orientation on December 4, 2024, at the Social Hall, 8th Floor, PGH Building to help new employees acclimate to their new work environment and to familiarize themselves with how the university operates. The newly hireds were introduced to the rich history of UP Manila, as well as its core values, vision and mission. At the University of the Philippines Manila, employees are equipped with the right values for them to duly uphold their tasks and responsibilities with honor and excellence.
UP Manila Human Resource Development Office Director Dr. Michael Antonio F. Mendoza, DDM, MA, welcomes the newly hired employees with his opening remarks. First in the agenda is to introduce UP Manila to the participants, care of, Ms. Jeah May O. Badeo, section head of Learning & Development from the HRDO.
The HRDO tapped the Record and Statistics Section and Leaves and Benefits Section to introduce the services that can be availed by UP Manila employees. Other offices also engaged to help newly hired employees such as the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and UP Provident Fund to give an overview on social security coverage and voluntary savings programs respectively.
Information Management Service Office (IMS) Director Mr. Marbert John C. Marasigan took part in the orientation to address the information and communication technology needs of the employees. The IMS team also ensured the participants are provided with skills and resources, and that should they encounter any problem digitally, the IMS is present to cater to their needs.
In addition to the aforementioned key departments that offered insights, the 31 participants were also given the opportunity to interact with officers from All UP Academic Employees Union and officers from All UP Workers Union. The union officers provided information on their union and activities, ensuring that the new employees are made aware of their rights, as well as of the support and representation available to them.
The University of the Philippines remains steadfast in its commitment in providing comprehensive support to all its employees including the newly hired ones. It is through carefully structured programs such as NEOP or New Employee Orientation Program that the university ensures the new hires are not only well-prepared, but also thoroughly well-adjusted to their new environment and culture — UP Manila.
