PHILHEALTH CARAVAN
The one-stop services hub was part of the HRDO Caravan Series: Government Services Access Express, a project by the Human Resource Development Office of the University of the Philippines Manila aimed at providing employees with convenient access to government services within the university.
The aim to create a community of citizens registered under the PhilHealth to ensure their identification and inclusion of health incentives provided by the government is one of the main agendas of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or is more commonly known as PhilHealth. Further, the growing community of workers within UP Manila never ceases as the institution continues to adapt to modern advancements and initiatives toward a more progressive education and society.
Hence, the UP Manila Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) conducted its first caravan for the year, starting off in collaboration with PhilHealth and the UP Health Service this March 10-11, 2026. This is to allow the UP Manila employees as well as their family members to avail its services at the comfort of their workplace. In this caravan, employees can avail of various services offered by the agency, including a new application, member portal assistance, issuance of PhilHealth ID and Member’s Data Form, Changing of employer to UP Manila, “First Patient Encounter” health screening of YAKAP, and updating of records. They also provide a consultation/service desk inquiry for employees who have concerns with regard to their records.
The first day was attended by six (6) representatives from the PhilHealth Inc., they accommodated UP Manila employees with the services they requested as well as inquiries they may have with regards to their own record or their family members. Aside from new applications, Philhealth also offered a free laminating service for the newly issued PhilHealth IDs given that they also brought their 1x1 photo.
In partnership as well with the UP Health Service, a "First Patient Encounter” health screening for the YAKAP program of Department of Health (DOH) were also offered during this caravan which helps UP Manila employees to be aware of the benefits offered by Philhealth once they are registered as YAKAP members. Six (6) representatives were also present to accommodate the participants of the caravan.
For the second day, a similar number of representatives came from PhilHealth and from the UP Health Service. To ensure a smoother facilitation and flow of incoming participants for this day’s caravan, the UP Health Service adopted a screening desk before directing to the actual YAKAP registration and screening.
The PhilHealth representatives also continued their smooth flow of transactions to cater the needs of UP Manila and UP PGH employees with regard to their PhilHealth records.
A total of 261 participants availed the services offered in the caravan, coming from both UP Manila and PGH community. 114 participants went during the first day of the event, while 147 participants came for the second day of the caravan.
