At first, I was quite nervous about taking this course, but also a bit excited. I was nervous because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to meet the expectations for my work. But I was excited, too, because it’s been a long time since I last took pictures to capture meaningful moments and create memorable photos. Although I still take pictures during small gatherings and holidays, it’s mostly because my mother asks me to do so, haha.
I also wonder if I can catch up with most of my classmates since I’ve noticed that many of them are already skilled and talented in photography. However, after the introduction and getting to know some of my classmates, I’ve started looking forward to this course and the projects that await us.
My experience in this course has been fruitful so far. The course manual has truly helped me understand the basics of photography and how to incorporate them. The case studies of photos provided in each lesson also helped me analyze photos carefully, pay attention to details, and study experimentation in photographic compositions.
Meanwhile, the assignments given so far have allowed me to explore and study my classmates’ photos, helping me practice my skills in analyzing photography, providing proper critiques, and thinking about how to improve a photo. I also enjoy reading some of my classmates' critiques since it feels like we’re helping each other recognize the flaws in our work and find ways to improve. Additionally, I appreciate hearing their thoughts on why they like particular photos, their preferences in taking pictures, and their inspirations for doing so.
Although I enjoy the course, I find some parts challenging. I'm not usually a talkative person, and I prefer to keep things simple and concise, so the reflection and assessment parts of Assignment #2 were a bit difficult for me because of the required minimum word count. I apologize if this seems offensive or makes me appear lazy because I don’t want to write—that’s not the case. I just don’t talk much, but I still make sure to follow the instructions. Maybe this process will help me expand my thoughts and explain them more clearly.

In my introduction, I shared my expectations for this class, stating, “— to learn more about photography techniques, improve my creativity and skills, and perhaps shift my perspective on photography.” The first expectation was met since I managed to learn a lot from Unit 1 and the ongoing Unit 2 modules. As for the second part, it is still a work in progress, mainly because I joined the Bonus 1 activity, which is game photography. I love games, so I want to capture the beauty of the game’s world and share the stories behind those pictures. I hope I can do well in this one. Regarding the last part, it didn’t exactly shift my perspective on photography; instead, it expanded it when I looked at my classmates’ photos. Photography allowed me to remember moments, notice changes from the past to the present, tell stories, and bring inspiration to others.
For the upcoming assignments, I have no idea about the details and instructions since they haven’t been posted yet. That’s why I feel a bit anxious because I tend to spend a lot of time thinking about what I should do for an assignment, especially when I have no clue what tasks we’re supposed to accomplish. However, I saw in our group chat that we have four remaining assignments, including the final project. The assignment titles gave me a little idea about them, but not entirely (such as ‘bucket list,’ ‘one object,’ ‘self-portraiture,’ and ‘one-shot summary’). I prefer to wait for the official instructions to avoid missing something important or doing something wrong. Still, I want to make sure I have enough time to work on them so they won’t mess up my schedule, especially since I have other courses to manage.
I think it would also be helpful if we could see the previous class’s projects to observe and analyze their works and perhaps draw some inspiration from them to generate new creative ideas. I will try my best to make my works on par with theirs and maybe even try to surpass them if possible. As I mentioned before, I don’t feel confident in my photography skills compared to my classmates, but I’m willing to try. Maybe I can use this challenge to improve and experiment with different approaches in photography.
Also, if there are any other bonus activities, I am willing to join them. To be blunt, I want to join for the additional points and to do something that doesn’t feel overwhelming—something I can just enjoy, like game photography. I have no regrets about my decision to join this bonus activity. However, my only regret in this course so far is that I haven’t taken any good pictures recently to use for my e-portfolio and the upcoming assignments. Overall, I have no problems with how this course is running. The Zoom sessions have also helped clarify assignments and discuss lessons. It’s been an enjoyable learning journey.
