Progress accelerates as proposal development and participant recruitment converge, setting the stage for timely data collection
After the adviser delay, I am now back on track with developing my proposal. As of writing, I have written up to chapter 1 to 3 and my proposal is currently being read by my adviser to check the feasibility of my data gathering calendar. Being that my external adviser's expertise is both on research and statistics, I am grateful for the help they are providing.
This week, I am to reach out to possible interviewees (both students and facilitators) from UPOU to scout if they will be able to participate in the coming weeks. I am also to develop my interview and survey questions. My goal is to start my data gathering phase by the 2nd week of April.
The momentum I'm experiencing now reinforces how important it is to have the right support system in place for research. If I were to approach this phase again, I would prepare my interview and survey instruments even earlier, perhaps during the adviser search period, so they would be ready for immediate review once an adviser was secured. This parallel work approach might have saved valuable time.
Several questions have emerged that I want to explore further: How can I ensure my interview questions effectively capture the nuanced experiences of students navigating repetitive learning cycles? What sampling approach will provide the most diverse perspectives without becoming unmanageable? And how can I design my data collection process to accommodate the varying schedules of working students who may have limited availability?
As I develop my research instruments, I'm particularly interested in finding ways to measure both the conscious strategies students employ and the unconscious adaptations they may not recognize in their own behavior.
