Found personal connection in new topic after setback
I have presented my topic to the EDS199 FIC (See Attachment B.1), but unfortunately, it was denied due to institutional politics than academic merit. Basically, the topic that I want requires system and faculty cooperation that some might not be comfortable with to the extent.
I delayed writing this entry because I was disappointed. I am reminded that no matter how much you think or prepare for something, there's always a chance it will not go as planned, for reasons you can't control. While that was demotivating, there's a silver lining to having many ambitions on your topic.
This time, my topic resonates better with me. It's about the repetitive cycle in UPOU and how it affects student motivation. Every day, for more than 3 years, my routine for every course has always been to read a module, respond to a discussion forum, submit an assignment, take an exam, and repeat. At some point, it got so tiring that I knew it affected my motivation. This is what I want. I want to know what sustains a UPOU student in an environment without consistent social interaction, even online.
I will channel disappointment into exploring UPOU student motivation research.
