July 14, 2025, marked a significant milestone as I concluded my formal collaboration with my external adviser, Mx. San Juan, who completed my final evaluation form (See Attachment B.4; Attachment B.5) with remarkably positive feedback that left me both humbled and proud of the work we accomplished together. Receiving ratings of 5/5 in most categories and an overall "Outstanding" performance rating felt like validation of the countless hours spent navigating R programming challenges, conducting triangulated data analysis, and pushing through methodological uncertainties with their patient guidance.
In the spirit of supporting my fellow EDS199 students who are still working through their own external adviser collaborations, I've decided to share the evaluation form template (See Attachment B.5.1) I created with my classmates, hoping it can serve as a useful reference for structuring their own gatekeeper assessments and project completions. Currently, I'm deep in the cross-analysis phase of my research, where the real magic is happening as patterns emerge across my interview, survey, and LMS data sources. One finding that has me particularly excited is the discovery that students systematically compensate for the lack of meaningful connections within formal course structures by creating and nurturing relationships elsewhere, through student organizations, gaming communities, professional networks, and informal study groups that exist entirely outside the institutional framework.
This cross-analysis phase is revealing insights that I'm genuinely excited to share through both my Student Motivation Guide and final paper, and my adviser's feedback about the research contributing meaningfully to UPOU students and the broader distance education community reinforces my sense that this work addresses a real need.
Moving forward, I'm motivated to channel their constructive criticism about balancing ambitious project goals with realistic timelines into my final writing phase, ensuring I deliver quality outputs without overwhelming myself in the process. The fact that they noted how I "went beyond simply developing the research by ensuring it had an immediate impact" through the Student Motivation Guide reminds me that practical application has always been at the heart of this project, and I'm committed to making that guide as valuable as possible for my fellow students.
