Beginning thesis journey with mix of ambition and anxiety
Today, out of panic, I've decided to start planning my thesis. Nothing major, "just" the deciding on a topic part. As of writing, I am not yet confident with the knowledge I gained from EDS195, so I will also be allocating additional time to review my notes as I read journals to identify potential topics.
My preference in a topic is that it should be original and relevant. In a country like the Philippines, I'm guessing producing an original thesis should not be difficult (hopefully) since we have a lot of education gaps that need addressing. The ambitious side of me wants my research to be somewhat revolutionizing, as funny as it sounds.
I am flooded by many worries: Should I create a timeline? Wouldn't that restrict me? Would I be able to find a partner organization? I feel anxious and excited at the same time.
My anxiety comes from my sea of worries, while my excitement comes from a goal that I've been wanting to achieve: apply the knowledge I've gained from UP to produce something that can sustainably help even just 0.001% of Filipinos.
Disclaimer: This entry was written before EDS199, I included it here as I consider it an important part of my special project—the part where I try to figure things out because I feel like I have everything to do but with so little time.
