World Anthropology Congress 2023



The IUAES is a world organization of scientists and institutions working in anthropology and ethnology. It is also of interest to archaeologists and linguists, among others. It aims to expand human knowledge through exchange and communication among scholars from all over the world. It contributes to a better understanding of human society and to a sustainable future based on harmony between nature and culture. The 19th IUAES-WAU World Anthropology Congress 2023 will be held in New Delhi, India, from the 14th to the 20th of October 2023. The congress is organised by the Indian Anthropological Association in collaboration with the Department of Anthropology, University of Delhi, the Ethnographic and Folk Culture Society of India, the Department of Anthropology, University of Hyderabad, and the Discipline of Anthropology, Indira Gandhi National Open University. The conference theme is 'Marginalities, Uncertainties and World Anthropologies: Enlivening Past and Envisioning Future’. (For details, visit: https://iuaes2023delhi.org/)


The Post Congress of the 19th IUAES-WAU World Anthropology Congress 2023 will be held in Hyderabad, India, on October 26-27, 2023, and is hosted by the Department of Anthropology, University of Hyderabad, India, in collaboration with Tribal Cultural Research and Training Institute (TCR & TI), Government of Telangana, Department of Liberal Arts, Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad, Department of Sociology, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad, Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad and Council for Social Development (CSD), Hyderabad.  

 

The theme of the Post Congress is ‘Anthropology and Digital Cultures’. (See the concept note on this website). The Post congress will be held in physical mode. However, the request of foreign scholars for online participation may be considered. 

 

Panel proposals are welcome on any discourse, debate and reflections that resonate with the theme of the Post Congress. Panels will be open to accepting papers from conference participants, and the responsibility of selecting papers and inclusivity will lie with the panel convenors.
