We are looking for interns interested in science communication, i.e., the dissemination of scientific information, who are passionate about writing articles for newspapers, magazines, and stories, as well as making podcasts and videos. It will primarily focus on the recently published research on exploring the gut bacterial community for micronutrient producers, Vulture population genetics, and vein pattern establishment in C4 plants, beneficial soil microbes, etc.

So far, we have tested DNA extraction from shed features as a non-invasive approach. Beyond feathers, we want to explore if their fecal matter can be a better source of DNA than feathers.

We started genomic surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in lake microbiome samples from Hyderabad, and wish to carry it out for a long-term study.

We aim to investigate whether the relatively short lifespan of mammals, compared to what might be expected from their body size, is influenced by evolutionary constraints inherited from small-bodied ancestral synapsids.
