Research area: Biomechanical aspects of breast cancer cells.
The study focuses on the synergistic effect of curcumin-coated magnetic (iron) nanoparticles to induce apoptosis of breast cancer cells (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231) in the presence and absence of a static magnetic field. The cell-selective changes in mode of cell death and biomechanical aspects of cells are the key interests of the study. The important parameters analyzed include cell stiffness, traction forces, adhesion strength, cytoskeletal organization, and migration. The ultimate aim is to establish magneto-mechanical therapy as a potential strategy for targeted breast cancer treatment
