I, as a fourth year student now and as a future teacher believes that learning environment should stimulate and challenges students to achieve optimum learning based on shared beliefs about the learning environment, contemporary research and professional knowledge. I also believe and committed that everyone is capable of learning, everyone learns in different ways and learning programs need to accommodate this, teachers and parents are critical factors in a child’s learning success, as well as teachers, students and parents accept responsibility for their learning, behavior and goal setting. It is also important that in order to produce a conducive and sound classroom environment, teachers should develop teaching strategies and methods which are purposeful, challenging and connected to a student’s experience, stage of development and background. Programs should also need to be culturally and developmentally appropriate, having real-life application, also students need to have the opportunity to observe, practice and teach others, engage in higher order thinking and reflection about learning.
Accordingly, I believe with this kind of situation we are facing right now learning for the young learners today should essentially mitigated these challenges amidst the pandemic while also building a more resilient system that can withstand future crises first, is to implement learning recovery programs, immediately, governments must ensure that students who have fallen behind receive the support that they need to catch up to expected learning targets. The first step must be to carry out just-in-time assessments to identify these students and their support needs. The second is to protect the education budget, given the significant financial strain that economies have been under during the pandemic, our country may face government budget cuts that could jeopardize the gains that have been made in recent years in terms of access to education and improved learning outcomes. To ensure a resilient recovery, it is essential that the education budget be protected and that the schools that need financing the most are supported. To help the most vulnerable students, governments should prioritize by directing much of the funding and resources to support schools delivering remote instruction, particularly if those schools are serving high-poverty and high-minority populations. The third is to raise a scholarship programs― As an encouragement to students to remain in school, incentives such as scholarships may need to be implemented, because not all of the learners or the family of the young students can afford buying laptops, any gadgets, or even buying a load.
Teachers should not only teach what is the curriculum or what is the subject matter to be discuss, teachers should give motivation or encouragement to the learners, giving them pieces of advice and regularly asking them what they are feeling. Another is to build creative teaching strategies that can help build students´ confidence even through online learning and that creative teaching involves showing the students how the lesson topic/content relates to their own lives and the real world. This can help them develop a greater sense of purpose. I believe that getting to truly know your students and learning about their backgrounds can help us find the most relevant lesson ideas. And lastly making positive environment within the online classroom gives students more opportunities to learn. If students feel anxious about contributing to class discussions, their acquisition of a new language will be reduced. I believe it is extremely important to build a supportive and relaxed atmosphere in the classroom. It is by encouraging learners and providing them with a lot of positive feedback for them to be motivated, inspired, and excited always to join the online class discussion.
