Hello! My name is Ben Dimalibot. I am the youngest of eight siblings. My family and I emigrated from the Philippines when I was 11 years old. We settled in Alaska, but spent some time in Oregon as well. At 17, I became a recipient of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through the Gateway to College program in Portland. I finished my undergraduate studies in Las Vegas where I obtained a BA in Communication Studies from UNLV in 2017.
Growing up, I aspired to do many things. It made it difficult for me to choose just one career path. Not much has changed; however, through exposure and experience, I have learned to hone my focus. I enrolled in the ELL graduate program to expand my knowledge in second language acquisition. In the process, I was able to reflect and work on my personal and professional growth. I hope to inspire others, especially the students I serve, to pursue their dreams, whatever they may be.
