5 Steps to Find the Perfect Internship
Step 1: Create a resume and cover letter.
Use this guide to create a resume and cover letter specific to your internship goals.
Your cover letter is required to include the following in paragraph 1: Internship Semester, Internship Start and End Dates, Course Credits and Required Work Hours.
Did you know? You can schedule time to review your resume and cover letter with the internship coordinator.
Step 2: Identify 3 - 5 internships sites to apply to.

Learn about HCO and internship opportunities by attending HCA 401 Internship Presentations and Networking Events. (Pre-Registration Required)
Have you been offered an internship at a site that is not affiliated with our program? Schedule a meeting with your internship coordinator to discuss options. New sites take an average of 12 weeks to process, last minute requests will be approved.
Students may not use their current employment as their internship experience. The internship experience is required to be a new learning experience.
Step 3: Apply for internship opportunities.
Internship flyers provide specific application directions for each opportunity.
Apply through email: Use your UNLV Rebel Mail. Copy your cover letter into the email as the message, then attach your resume and cover letter as pdf documents.
Step 4: Interview for your internship experience.
Step 5: Receive an internship offer and get UNLV approval.
Select the appropriate class to download your Internship Project Proposal.
Internship Project Proposal Directions:
After you accept an internship, meet with your preceptor (site supervisor) to complete the internship project proposal.
The preceptor should provide information and guidance, but this form is to be completed by the student.
Use Adobe Reader (available for free) to complete this form.
Student and preceptor (site supervisor) signatures are required before submission. Electronic signatures not accepted.

Internship Approval: The approved, Internship Project Proposal will be sent via email.
Permission to Enroll: Enroll in Your Internship Course EOH 793, HCA 793, HCA 493, or PBH 495, after you receive permission to enroll via email.
Onboarding Requirements: The internship coordinator will assign site specific onboarding requirements, with due dates. Internship approval is contingent on meeting all onboarding requirements by the assigned due date.
