Our mission

Project E3 is a professional development model designed to improve academic language instruction for English learners in early childhood settings across the state of Nevada. The project prepared 29 in-service educators from Nevada's urban and rural settings to serve as Teacher Leaders to support emergent bilinguals' improved academic language and content instruction. Project E3 is aligned to the goals established by the Nevada state legislature (Senate Bill 504) to improve the quality of education for emergent bilinguals so that Pk - 3 teachers are equipped with the knowledge and skills to support pedagogy, leadership, and student advocacy.

Project E3 encompasses three interrelated components:

  • University coursework leading to a M.Ed. in English Language Learning, an English Language Acquisition and Development endorsement, and license;

  • Customized coaching

  • Saturday Advanced Professional Language Institutes or instructional leadership teams

Goals

Increase the understanding of typical instructional practices in Nevada early childhood settings and create high quality professional development experiences

Increase the number of highly qualified early childhood Teacher Leaders to coach peers on best English language learning development (vocabulary) and content-related instructional practices
