To view the nursery census, access the list: Patient Lists > Available Lists > UMC Hospital > Units > UMC Nursery
The mother's chart can be accessed at: Patient Lists > Available Lists > UMC Hospital > Units > UMC Family Birthcare or FBCC (or linked to the baby's chart on the left side)
Keep in mind that some babies may be boarding in the NICU, but will remain on the general pediatric nursery service. You are still responsible for rounding on these patients. These patients will appear on the NICU list (Patient Lists > Available Lists > UMC Hospital > Units > UMC NICU) but will have a general pediatrician listed as the attending. Be sure to also always check in with the NICU secretary when you are pre-rounding to make sure you don't miss a patient.
Please familiarize yourself with this rounding template. You may make additions as needed, but this is a general guide (each attending has their own preferences) to ensure that you gather the appropriate information on your pre-rounds.
Before starting your note, please update the patient's problem list. This may be as simple as "newborn of 40 weeks gestation", but there may be additional relevant codes (such as drug exposure, mother's GBS screen positive, etc.) Please review this job aide and "cheat sheet" to assist you in entering the correct ICD-10 codes. Do not use OB codes in the pediatric chart.

There are various note templates that can be used to improve your documentation in the nursery. Below are two examples of commonly-used note templates. They can be borrowed from Dr. Jordana Boneh's EPIC build.
