Gregorio Guisado-Barrios graduated in Chemistry in 2003 at the University of Burgos, Spain. In 2004, he worked at the Institute of Chemistry and Dynamics of Geosphere, Forschungzentrum Jülich, Germany as Laboratory Assistant, under supervision of Dr. Jean M. Séquaris. He was awarded his Ph.D (2010) at St Andrews University (Scotland, UK) under the supervision of Dr. David T. Richens. At the same institution he also worked as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the group of Prof. Paul J. C. Kamer. Then he joined Prof. Guy Bertrand’s group, now at University of California San Diego (US) as a Postdoctoral Researcher. In 2012 he joined Prof. Eduardo Peris’ group at the Institute of Advance Materials (INAM)- Jaume I University (UJI), first as UJI-postdoctoral researcher, then as “Juan de la Cierva-Fellow". During this period, he was awarded with the "José Castillejo Mobility Felloship 2016" to carry out a (3) months research stay in the group of Prof. Vincent Lavallo, University of California Riverside (US). From 2019 till early 2021, he has worked as JIN-Fellow funded by (MICIU-Retos de Investigación-JIN) at UJI prior his incorporation to the University of Zaragoza-CSIC as “Ramón y Cajal” Fellow. At the end of 2023 is works as CISC Tenured Scientist with interest in photocatalysis, energy storage, nitrogen to ammonia fixation and high-valent transition metal complexes.
Lathe Jones obtained a PhD on the Coordination Chemistry and Electrochemistry of macrocyclic complexes (University of Queensland, Australia, 1999), and has undertaken postdoctoral positions on Ruthenium complexes with optical properties (University of Manchester, UK, 1999-2002), and gold complexes for homogeneous catalysis (University of Zaragoza, Spain, 2003-2005). He was then a group leader and Unit manager at CIDETEC (San Sebastian, Spain, 2005-2010) liaising with Industry and administrations on projects in applied electrochemistry and surface science, before taking up a position at RMIT University (Australia, 2010-2024), firstly as an Vice Chancellors (Industry) fellow, and then as associate professor, with research interests electrochemistry, inorganic chemistry and minerals science. He was also program manager for the Bachelors of Science (Chemistry) degree at RMIT, planning and managing communications, outreach and teaching in chemistry and related subjects, maintaining an adjunct Associate Professorship there to this day.
He incorporated into CSIC-ISQCH (Instituto de Síntesis Química y Catálisis Homogénea, Zaragoza) in 2024 as an Investigador Científico (Principal research scientist), with research interests in electrochemistry (redox chemistry of complexes and flow batteries), Coordination chemistry and electrosynthesis, especially with application in energy. He has published over 100 research papers, been a co-CI on over 40 research projects and completed 15 PhD students as supervisor.
Marta Martín studied Chemistry at the University of Zaragoza and obtained her Bachelor in Science Degree in 1989, and her Ph. D. in chemistry in 1993 under the supervision of Professors Mª Pilar García and Miguel A. Esteruelas. This was followed by a two-years post-doctoral stay in Würzburg (Germany) with Prof. H. Werner. Back to the University of Zaragoza as associate lecturer, and after consecutive eventual positions, she became Ramón y Cajal Researcher at the ICMA (Institute of Materials Science of Aragón) in 2003, and CSIC Tenured Scientist in 2006. Nowadays she works at the ISQCH (Institute of Chemical Synthesis and Homogeneous Catalysis), in the group “Catalysts & Mechanisms”. The expertise of the group is centered on the synthesis of new transition metal complexes and the mechanistic investigation of bond cleavages and formations mediated by them. The ultimate goal of this research is the design of new functional ligands and more efficient catalysts.
Eduardo SOLA (Pamplona, 1964) graduated in chemistry (1987) and obtained the PhD (1991) at the University of Zaragoza (UZ, Spain) with Profs. Miguel A. Esteruelas and Luis A. Oro. After a postdoctoral stay at the Institut für Anorganische Chemie der Universität Würzburg (Germany) with Prof. Helmut Werner, he became assistant professor at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of the UZ. He joined the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) in 1994 as Tenured Scientist and became CSIC Scientific Researcher in 2005. His research interests are in organometallic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis, chasing mechanistic conclusions that inspire new catalystic transformations and catalyst designs.
