EVENT DESCRIPTION

The GAFEVOL CONGRESS, which is taking place this year in its 17th edition, is an event of the GAFEVOL group – Functional Analysis and Evolutionary Equations Group,  which includes researchers working in the field of functional analysis and evolution equations. This group, emerged in the 1980s, with researchers from the Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences of the University of Santiago de Chile and, thanks to the dissemination activities of this small group, such as national and international congresses, weekly colloquia and others, year after year, have brought together new collaborators. Many of the USACH alumni have been participating as assistants in the weekly colloquia, or in special sessions of congresses, and today as professors in different universities in South America, collaborating with GAFEVOL through their research and actions linked to them.

Currently, GAFEVOL has 11 Professors and 15 associated from countries such as Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain,  United States and Poland. Among these members, we find professors who are among the most influential researchers in world science. This growth allows the formation of collaboration networks between researchers linked to the group or that, in addition to enriching scientific work, allows the continued training of new students. Since 2010, GAFEVOL conferences have become annual, with some exceptions, and include guests from other parts of the world, with the intention of broadening the dissemination of the research carried out by the group and increasing iteration among those who do not have necessarily a specialization in this area . Initially, all the events took place in Chile until, in 2014, we had an edition in Brazil, at USP in Ribeirão Preto. This occasion saw the participation of a large number of people who had the idea of ​​holding the event one year in Chile and another abroad. Likewise, after an edition in Chile in 2016, the event returned to Brazil in 2017, hosted by UNB in ​​Brasilia. In 2019 and 2022, Colombia welcomed researchers in the cities of Barranquilla and Manizales, respectively. In 2023, we held the XVI GAFEVOL CONGRESS in Santiago, Chile, and this year, it will be held at Universidad de Zaragoza in Spain.

The congresses held by GAFEVOL have, in the media, the presence of 20 speakers, also providing opportunities for graduate students, in addition to the participation of other researchers in the area, and are excellent opportunities for the dissemination of work and for iteraction among its members, as well as for the generation of work partnerships and joint student guidance.  To see all the editions of the GAFEVOL CONGRESS,  please go to: http://gafevol.usach.cl/pagweb8.html
