The Department deals with the design of buildings and spaces that we use, that make up our cities, The program of this department is for the students that have the talent and patience to learn the design of building types with the integration of modern technology. Our department is dedicated to educating future generations of ethical professionals, creative designers, and informed citizens.

The Architecture department was established in 1999 as part of the faculty of Engineering and has been specializing in Architecture Engineering. The department provides two levels of academic studies:

• Undergraduate study (BSc.); which consists of 5 academic years of study and awards the students a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture Engineering

• Postgraduate studies (MSc. And PhD); with the former consists of 2 years and the latter 4 years of academic study, each one of the postgraduate course awards certificate based on different aspects and subjects of both traditional and modern architecture. And currently, the department is offering a one-year Diploma degree for those who are willing to continue their studies.

OUR OBJECTIVE

The objective of the department is to combine architecture with structural studies, in theory, and design. Prepare our graduates to actively participate in the contemporary milieu, encourage and anticipate paradigm shifts, and respond to change in the local, national and international communities.

And also tries to prepare a generation of architects distinct, conscious scientifically, intellectually, and technically with high-quality skills. They respect the local, environmental, historical, cultural, social identity and conscious of contemporary developments in both scientific and technical domains.

Provide the community with new skilled architects in both fields: academic and professional, as the department began the postgraduate programs (MSc. and PhD) from 2006 till now, and a Diploma degree from 2020.

Our students will be taught building type design and will be familiarized with building construction, technology, urban design and planning, interior design, landscape design alongside theory and history of architecture in preparation for engaging with social and field practice. Encouraging the Cooperation and academic interaction and partnerships with other universities in order to be involved with the different architectural approaches, The continuous improvement of the educational programs and their outputs to achieve the quality assurance and the academic reliance. and supporting the vernacular architecture to prevent them from losing their values or demolishing by supporting researches and studies at the local level to shed light on their features.
