PROGRAMME

The program introduces students to the theory, tools, and techniques of engineering design and creative problem-solving in Irrigation/Water Resources engineering. During four years of study, different topics will be taken which include (Dams Engineering, Engineering Hydraulics, Hydraulic Structures, Water Supply, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, Irrigation Systems, etc……). The course includes the study, design, and operation of water resource systems, Water resources management and it is important from several angles such as the development of water bodies for the future, protection of available water bodies from pollution.

The Bologna process system of study will be followed in the department.

- Total overall number of Credits/Semester = 30 ECTS

- Each academic year consists of ( 30 ) studying weeks (2 Semesters)

TEACHING AND LEARNING

The studying program of this department consists of theoretical and practical courses using laboratories and computer applications. Graduates responsibilities from this department will include but not limited to:- Performing site surveying and land outlines and bench-marking, performing engineering analyses and calculations; conducting civil engineering designs; preparing engineering drawings and technical specifications; soil investigations, analysis, and testing, conducting computer modelling related to water resources; conducting water and sewerage designs and implementations, preparing technical documents including letters, memoranda, bills of quantities and reports; preparing and delivering technical presentations; conducting a variety of fieldwork related to engineering consulting; supervising and directing field personnel works; interacting with client representatives, and managing and developing schedule/budget for project tasks.

ASSESSMENT

BSc students have to take compulsory theoretical and practical modules. Written exams, reports, and presentations are among the assessments of the theory and practical modules. A summer training course in the fields related to the subjects that have been taken theoretically is one of the requirements in the third year. Last year engineering project is also required for graduation.
