2- Comprehensive Reforms in Policy and Curriculum Design at the University of Sulaimani:
At the University of Sulaimani, Daban is leading comprehensive reforms in both our current policies and curriculum design, guided by the principles of the Bologna Process and the evolving requirements of 21st-century education. These efforts are directed toward transforming the University of Sulaimani into a modern, dynamic institution that better serves a diverse and inclusive student body.
These reform efforts aim to reorient the university's philosophy into an outcome-based educational framework, which prioritizes learning outcomes over conventional formal learning. By integrating innovative pedagogical tools and diverse learning pathways, we are fostering a student-centered learning environment that encourages deep, engaged learning. This approach not only enhances the academic experience for all students but also broadens access, ensuring that a higher proportion of disadvantaged students can participate fully in their education.
Beyond curriculum design, Daban is actively reshaping higher education policies at the university to increase accessibility for disadvantaged students. By focusing on policy reforms that address systemic barriers, we aim to create an equitable learning environment that offers greater opportunities for underrepresented groups. These reforms include developing more inclusive admission criteria, enhancing support services, and implementing financial aid programs tailored to the needs of disadvantaged students.
Our reforms are informed by the latest developments in the Bologna Process and the Tuning Educational Structures in Europe (TUNING) project. These frameworks provide a roadmap for harmonizing educational standards and practices across Europe, and we are adopting them to enhance the quality and relevance of our programs. The goal is to align our curriculum with international standards, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared for the global workforce and further academic pursuits.
