During hiring season, I am often challenged to be the person I would sound like in interviews. It is great to hear the best hopes and intentions of candidates, and to remember to strive to be that person in the everyday (especially in May) interactions with colleagues and students. Join me this month in striving for that goal!
Hiring update -

Senior Checkout sheets will go in advisors boxes next week. This is only for returning school property, not about grades.
The upstairs restrooms by the fifth grade and English rooms are for Elementary only due to some poor behavior by high school students. Please help us send students to the other restrooms.
Advisors - Please send Amy a grade change as seniors get done with their experiential learning requirements.
I started an archive page for old updates instead of just deleting them - in case you need to go back to something.
Educational Opportunity for Staff- INFORMATION (this was an announcement from D6)
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is launching a 12-credit hour graduate certificate in Instructional Technology beginning in the fall of 2024. This graduate-level program is designed to equip P-20 educators at all levels and content areas with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully implement technology in the classroom. New and improved for this relaunch is a course focused specifically on Artificial Intelligence for Educators. All courses are offered in a convenient online format (8-weeks each) and transfer into the Online Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
See the attached flyer or website for more details, including the specific course offerings.

Department Check-ins
Cell Phones discussion -
Survey to allow for feedback from all staff
lockers for those who want it
Recommendation from leadership is to have one consistent cell phone policy/procedure for all classes. (no phones other than curricular uses based on teacher discretion)
Part of the dip in academic achievement is due to prolific phone use. Research seems very clear about phones being a detriment to focus and engagement.
Communication Update
Wondering about getting some standardized use of Google Classroom to help build consistency for students. ELO in May? Summer? Start of next year?

Parking! This time of year, more and more of you are driving. If you are willing to park in the middle school, that opens up more spots for other student and parents in the main lot. I have been parking down there, and there are always plenty of spots.
Please be diligent when ordering from Grub Hub/Door Dash that you enter the correct delivery address. The address for the school is: 6525 W 18th Street. If you have the option for an additional message to your delivery driver, add a message: Delivery to High School Main Office.
If your food is delivered to an incorrect address, contact the delivery company and/or driver. Do not go to that address where the food was delivered. The school has received several complaints from the neighboring houses about students being disruptive when collecting their food at the incorrect delivery location.
Please help out our neighbors by picking up lunch trash near the school.
I added a link to the bottom of this page that lists all teachers grading policies
