History of the FORA

 A third-year course of Cropping Systems and Agroforestry was offered at Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna. Third year students of the faculty of Agriculture willing to establish the forestry society as a student club and they met the course teacher and discuss about forming the society. Scarcely a month after the semester started, Dr.Mrs.S.Sivachandiran, head, Department of Agronomy and Mr.K.Jeyavanan, Course Teacher met the third year students. The purpose of the meeting was to establish a Forestry Club in September 2017. The proposal of the students’ society was developed by Course teacher concerning with Dr.Mrs.S.Sivachandiran, head, Department of Agronomy and Prof. Mrs. Thushyanthy Mikunthan, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna.  A crest of the society was designed by a student of the third year and it was selected on the competition basis and the crest was modified by Dr.Mrs.S.Sivachandiran and finally designed. After several discussion, the name of the society was formed as Forestry Association.  The proposal of the students' society was approved by the Faculty Board and University of Jaffna.
