The Earth Physics Laboratory (LABOPHYT) of the Department of Geophysics, within the Faculty of Hydrocarbons and Chemistry (FHC) at M'Hamed Bougara University of Boumerdès (UMBB), was established in 2000 to promote cutting-edge research in geophysics. The laboratory is structured around six specialized research teams, each addressing key themes in earth sciences. This multidisciplinary approach provides a strong foundation for doctoral training and fosters collaboration with the energy industry.
Currently, the laboratory’s research focuses on hydrocarbon exploration, leveraging advanced geophysical methods to address challenges in reservoir characterization, seismic interpretation, and subsurface imaging. By combining academic expertise and industry-relevant applications, the lab contributes to Algeria’s energy sector while training the next generation of geoscientists.
