Director of Biskra University, Professor Mahmoud Debabeche, receives a high-level delegation from the sister country of Mauritania.

On the evening of Tuesday, June 13, 2023, the Acting Director of Biskra University, Professor Mahmoud Debabeche, received a delegation from Mauritania in the honorary hall of the directorate. The delegation included officials from the sister country, Mauritania, and was attended by university officials, including the Secretary-General and the Deputy Director responsible for pedagogy, along with the Director of the National Employment Agency, Mr. Daoud Kahloul.

This visit is part of the training internship conducted by the delegation in the province of Biskra, within the framework of international cooperation between African countries. After welcoming the Mauritanian delegation, the University Director gave an overview of the role of Biskra University in welcoming and training international students, as well as providing support throughout their studies. He also highlighted the university's scientific and research projects, its centers, and its achievements in international rankings. In response, the head of the Mauritanian delegation, Mr. Mohamed Taleb, discussed the purpose of the visit, the institutions visited, and the conferences related to governance, participatory democracy, promoting entrepreneurship, and more. He emphasized that the visit aimed to enhance capacities and exchange experiences in the field of local administration, including a closer look at the work of various local public bodies and institutions, including higher education institutions, which play a fundamental role in the reforms implemented by the authorities, especially in the areas of digitization and finance.

The visiting delegation also had a field tour of the administrative complex, where they were received by officials and directors of the university's centers and departments. These officials provided detailed explanations about the functions of these centers, including the Entrepreneurship House, the Career Path Center and Job Search Club, the University-Enterprise Link Office, and the University Business Incubator. Afterwards, the guests visited the university's central library, where they received several explanations about the operations of its departments. They expressed their admiration for the human and material resources and the high managerial and administrative capabilities demonstrated by this scientific institution.

University of Biskra Renews Covenant with the National Cable Manufacturing Company (ENICAB)

In line with the policy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which emphasizes the need to enhance the relationship between the university and its external environment, and as an embodiment of the strategic role aimed at activating applied scientific research through partnership and collaboration with social and economic actors, whether in the private or public sector, in order to contribute to development, the Acting Director of the University of Biskra, Professor Mahmoud Dababash, and university officials welcomed the Director-General of the National Cable Manufacturing Company, Mr. Abdelhakim Waham, and his team on the morning of Monday, May 22, 2023, to renew the signing of a cooperation and partnership agreement between the two institutions.

The agreement aims to expand the employment opportunities for students and enhance the utilization of scientific research results, in addition to conducting applied scientific research that aligns with the needs of the economic and social environment. It also provides opportunities to attract new and additional financial resources. On the other hand, the Cable Manufacturing Company ensures the training of operational personnel within the institution and facilitates the process of professional integration, in addition to utilizing the human and material resources available at the university.

The signing ceremony of the agreement renewal was attended by university officials, including deputies, deans of faculties, and the director of the Office of University Relations with the External Environment, Professor Samaah Souleh, along with a delegation from the company, represented by the Director of Human Resources Development, Mr. Abdelhamid Fadil, the Head of Users and Training Department, Mr. Hani Saloum, the Director of Quality, Safety, and Security, Mr. Bou Bakr Skoub, and the Chairman of the Participation Committee in the institution, Mr. Jaafar Laamoudi.

The first official agreement between the two parties was signed in 2021, and this renewal is a recognition of the positive results achieved by the agreement and a response to the requirements of sustainable development, supporting the aspirations of researchers and the concerns of the social partner. It also aims to open up prospects for students, especially in the field of professional certifications, to promote the entrepreneurial culture in Algerian universities.

In his welcoming speech, the Acting Director of the University, Professor Mahmoud Dababash, emphasized that the success of this agreement strengthens the close relationship that has existed between the two parties for years. He highlighted that this partnership has become an inevitable necessity dictated by the current reality to link the university with the external environment, considering that the National Cable Manufacturing Company is a leading institution and an important economic partner that meets the needs of the domestic market for electrical cables, reducing their import percentage. In the framework of the new laws established by the supervisory ministry, he called for the integration of the best research projects from various specialties and stages, participating in startup projects in the industrial environment, along with the provision of recognized professional certificates.

On his part, the General Manager of ENICAB, Mr. Abdelhakim Waham, expressed his happiness with the renewal of this covenant, aiming to embrace the best innovative projects to improve their performance and enhance the quality of production in the field of cable manufacturing, with the goal of advancing the national economy. In return, the company provides all the material and moral support to assist students and facilitate the completion of their scientific research and field internships. He expressed his hope that this meeting would remain a constant and ongoing bridge between the two sectors. He also discussed the company's efforts to develop its performance through partnerships with high-level foreign institutions.

Director of Biskra University receives the delegation coming from the sister countries Saudi Arabia and Libya to participate in the international forum on mini football in Algeria: Perspectives and Aspirations

The acting director of Mohammed Khider University of Biskra, Professor Mahmoud Debabeche, received on Wednesday evening, May 10, 2023, in the honorary hall at the directorate headquarters, along with the Secretary-General of the university and the director of the Institute of Physical and Sports Activities Sciences and Technologies, the members of the foreign delegation who came from the sister countries Saudi Arabia and Libya. The delegation was headed by the President of the International Minifootball Federation, Dr. Mohammed bin Hisham Al-Dosari, accompanied by the President of the National Committee for the Development of Minifootball in Algeria, Advisor Mansaf Suisi, as well as the President of the National Committee for the Development of Minifootball in the University Center, Mr. Riad Boukhbila. In addition, the heads of international federations were also present. This visit was a friendly gesture and courtesy extended to the university's top official, acknowledging the warm reception and organization witnessed during the conference. The parties exchanged various viewpoints regarding the status of mini football in Algerian universities and discussed ways of development. The university director commended the efforts of those involved in this international event and emphasized that sports are an important part of student life and must be practiced due to their positive impact on the academic performance of university students. In the same context, he highlighted the role of university sports as a means of promoting human and social values within the campus and society at large. On the sidelines of this visit, the delegation, accompanied by the Secretary-General of the university, headed to the multi-sports hall at the university to see the sports equipment and facilities available for university students to engage in various sports activities. The guests highly admired the facilities. Moreover, Dr. Mohammed bin Hisham Al-Dosari gave the signal to start one of the matches held as part of the international conference.

This visit reflects the strength of Algeria's relationship with these sister countries, allowing for opportunities of cooperation and coordination in various fields, including sports.

Welcome Day Events for International Students at Biskra University


In accordance with the recommendations of the supervisory ministry, Biskra University organized the Welcome Day events "Marhaba day" for international students on Monday morning, November 14, 2022, in the main lecture hall named after the martyr Omar Assassi. The event was supervised by the university director and attended by officials and staff of the institution, including deputy directors, deans of faculties, and representatives from the university services directorates.

During the welcoming gathering, university officials expressed their joy in receiving students from countries such as Palestine, Yemen, Sudan, Mauritania, Western Sahara, Mali, and Niger in the welcoming environment of Biskra University, their second home in Algeria. Deputy Director of Training for the first and second cycles, Professor Abdelhamid Jefal, highlighted the distribution of these students across different faculties and majors, totaling 77 students in undergraduate and master's programs, and 12 students in doctoral programs. He also mentioned the procedures and facilities provided by the university administration regarding their registration and support throughout their academic journey.

The representatives of international students, in turn, expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the efforts made by the government and the university administration in creating favorable conditions for their education, academic development, and improving their living conditions, thus alleviating the feeling of being away from their home countries.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the attending students to raise their concerns and suggestions. The university director called upon the university community to address the raised issues and find solutions, emphasizing the need to reactivate the office dedicated to international students.
