Mohamed Khider University of Biskra is known as a young institution since its inception, it has witnessed rapid realistic and radical transformations in its fame.

Our university relies on the pedagogical and scientific competence of its professors and the support of its employees and workers, to train a class of students who can succeed in social and professional integration in the local community.

The City of Biskra

Biskra is located in the eastern part of the northern Algerian desert, and is famous for the quality of its dates, its captivating nature, the generosity of its people, and the fertility of its lands; city is a touristic and strategic place. It is considered as a link between south and north of Algeria.

The County of Biskra sits before the new administrative division, on a total area estimated at 21,671 km2. It includes 33 municipalities spread over 12 administrative districts, inhabited by about 700,000 people, with a population density of 28 residents per km2.

Many civilizations passed through the region of Biskra, including: Phoenician, Roman, Greek, Vandal, Byzantine and finally the Arab-Islamic civilization at the hands of the great conqueror "Okba Ibn Nafia" who was martyred in the Tahuda area, so that a shrine and a mosque were built for him in a city bearing his name "Sidi Uqba".

European writers and artists who visited the city also lived there, such as the French plastic painter (Henri Matisse), the French writer (André Gide), as well as the Hungarian musician (Béla Bartók). Biskra also attached the English writer Simon Henry Leeder, German writer Heinrich von, French writer (Daniel Hirtz), as well as the scientist (Karl Marx), the French poet (Francis Jammes), and the French writer (Albert Camus).

THE INTERNATIONALIZATION STRATEGY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BISKRA

Nowadays, Higher Education Institutions (HEI) with leading and strong academic position share experience with other institutions either internally or externally. For this reason, Biskra University (www.univ-biskra.dz ) tends to find partners from all over the globe by enhancing learning, teaching and training, raising the rate of employability, and give the university the chance to be a real active part in the international framework. Through this internationalization strategy, we aim to reach a high number of students and staff mobility, joint programs, curricula, and research projects, and raise the visibility and sustainability of our institution. Also, we work to harmonize the ECTS (European Credits Transfer System) with our Credits System in order to helps students to spend a fruitful educational period abroad without any credits recognition issues through thoroughgoing conversations with our partners. Currently, our institution is part of different internationalization activities

Memorandum of Understanding

Biskra University has taken action to sign bilateral scientific agreements that facilitate and foster scientific research in addition to researchers’, and students’ exchange programs. It has 34 Active Agreements from Eight (08) countries.

Biskra University is a part of different consortia that tend to accumulate the efforts of different active universities to enhance collaboration in different fields; UNIMED, AUF, TETHYS.

Cotutelle

This is another example of bilateral agreement that helps Ph.D. students to pursue their Doctorate studies, projects, and research activities in the host university. It is worth mentioning that our candidates have the chance of two diplomas recognized by both research institutions. We have cotutelle programs with both France and Belgium.
