WHAT WE MEAN WHEN WE SAY: TRUE SABBATH DAY
Genesis 2:1-4; AMP
1 THUS THE heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. , Hebrews 4:10. 3 And God blessed (spoke good of) the seventh day, set it apart as His own, and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all His work which He had created and done. . 4 This is the history of the heavens and of the earth when they were created. In the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens—
Significance: Sabbath or the seventh day was created by God Himself.
- God chose the week to be seven days; do you think God really needed six days to create the universe?
- God chose to rest on the seventh day; do you really think God was tired after speaking the universe into existence?
The answers to these questions are easy; NO and NO! God has implemented a system of operation, He has Himself become an example to all of His sons and daughters. God rested before there was an Abraham to covenant with, a Moses to legislate with or any Apostle, Prophet, Bishop or preacher to counsel with. God rested after six days of work because He choose to. The question is; Why then rest on the seventh day? Well, we searched throughout the scriptures for an answer, and it took Jesus to clarify the real significance of the Sabbath day.
Mark 2:27; AMP
27 And Jesus said to them, The Sabbath was made on account and for the sake of man, not man for the Sabbath; [Ex 23:12; Deut 5:14.] 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.
NOTE: True Sabbath day worship on Saturday is not about observing an Old Testament Mosaic Law, it’s about establishing and experiencing a New Testament relationship with our God through His Son Jesus.
The Sabbath was never intended to a rule about a day, that we were obligated to keep. Jesus teaches that the Sabbath was designed with us in mind; it is a day of rest for the people of God.
When God rested on the seventh day, it was an example to all mankind; God never intended for us to work and be stressed seven days a week. Just look at what we call church today and you will see why we need a return to the Sabbath day.
We have believers trying to heal like God, talk like God and some even have the audacity to think they are God, but how many have really tried to rest in God? Our God choose to use six days to labor and one day to rest; now what does that illustrate to us? I call it six days to stress, one day to rest.
We are not trying to fulfill some regulation so we can satisfy the opinion of men or denominations.. Our desire is to have a day of divine rest and corporate restoration dedicated to the worship of our God.
